A knowledge of the past provides us with experience with which to face the future. History, government, economics, and non-European civilization are among the courses offered to Fairhaven students. EDWARD F. TRAINOR A.B., M.A. Mr. Trainor, head of our Social Studies De¬ partment, attended Boston University and Bridge- water State College. He teaches non-European civilization, and in his spare time enjoys reading, bowling, and swimming. ALEXANDER M. CLEMENT B.S, M.Ed. Mr. Clement attended Williams College, North Adams State College, and Hyannis State College. A teacher of United States History, Mr. Clement enjoys visiting historical places. He also likes sports and crossword puzzles. CHARLES F. FOLEY B.S. in Ed. Mr. Foley, a graduate of Bridgewater State College, teaches world history, United States his¬ tory, and economics. He enjoys music and sports, and he is interested in foreign affairs. WILLIAM OLIVEIRA B.S. in Ed. Mr. Oliveira graduated from Bridgewater State College. A teacher of geography, govern¬ ment, and history from 1700, Mr. Oliveira likes bowling and photography. 20

Business raised America’s standard of living to its present level, and feeds, clothes, and houses all of us. The future of our country depends to a large extent on how our free enterprise system will meet the challenges facing it. MARIE R. NOYER B.S. in Ed. Mrs. Noyer is head of the Business Department and teaches office practice. She graduated from Salem State College. Mrs. Noyer’s main interests include poli¬ tics, the theatre, furniture refinishing, gardening, and knitting. STELLA S. BOROWIEC B.S. in B.A. Mrs. Borowiec, who attended Southeastern Massa¬ chusetts Institute of Technology, teaches typing and bookkeeping. Among her interests are sports and working for children’s organizations. MANUEL FONTES B.S., B.A., M.Ed. Mr. Fontes is a graduate of Boston College and Bridgewater State College. He teaches business law and bookkeeping, and his interests are fishing and wood-working. One of his heaviest tasks is advising the HUTTLESTONIAN staff! 22
