As head of the Music department, Mrs. Di Domenico has unselfishly aided the Seniors at Fairhaven High School. This year Mrs. Di Domenico, affectionately known as Mrs. Di to all the students, directed our Senior play, Brigadoon.” She has helped us to present rhany fine concerts and assemblies for the town and school. Last year we hosted The Southeastern Massachusetts District Auditions Festival under her direction. Mrs. Di has always been understanding and a friend to us all. The Fairhaven High School graduating class of 1967 owes a great debt of thanks to Mrs. Di Domenico, and in appreciation for her understanding we fondly dedicate this yearbook. 6 TO THE MEMBERS OF THE CLASS OF 1967! You have the distinction of being the last class to begin and end your entire high school career within the structure of Fairhaven High School. As you passed the days and years since your beginning here, we hope that you took unto yourself much of the tradition, pride and knowledge that was your heritage. All of us, you the Seniors, and we the Faculty, have given and received a measure of human growth during our years together. Perhaps in passing we did not gather up all the wealth that was there for the taking. Yet from this, we can draw a lesson, one that should be ever renewed. As we pass through life, we must reach oyt for all that will enrich us in mind and heart. It is all too true that we may never pass this way again. To each who asks, Is this a time for learning? we, like the aging Greek, Lacydes, must reply, If not, when will it be?” For each of you, we wish success and the satisfaction of a life well lived. As you depart, you leave an indefinable something which adds to the fullness of our lives and which reminds us that as you passed you left the warm imprint of youth. CHARLES C. We were the last class to enter Fairhaven High as Freshmen. In our first year, our class officers were: Howard Barrow, President; Jane Tillotson, Vice-President; Susan Medeiros, Secretary; and Cynthia Desroches, Treasurer. Our Executive Board members were: Henry Bernier, Thomas Carvalho, Beverly Collins Donna Howard, and Warren Livesley. Our class advisors: Mr. Sullivan, Mrs. Modesto, Miss Campbell, and Mr. Boyce, guided us in our project of selling magazines and in other experiences which were new to us. Our Freshman year had come to an end, and having successfully completed it, we looked forward to being Sophomores. Although we were still the youngest class, our first year had given us a feeling of confidence for our Sophomore yea r. For this year, we elected as our officers: Howard Barrow, President; Jane Tillotson, Vice-President; Susan Medeiros, Secretary; and Thom¬ as Powers, Treasurer. Henry Bernier, Barbara Bouchard, and Betty Jones were chosen as Executive Board members. Since our magazine project had proved so profitable in our Freshman year, we decided to sell magazines once again. In the fall of 1965, we entered our Junior year as upperclassmen. To guide us through this very important year, we chose as our officers: Thomas Murphy, Presi¬ dent; Gordon Sykes, Vice-President; Howard Barrow, Secretary, and Barbara Bouchard, Treasurer. George Amaral, Susan Hartigan, Louis Kruger, Susan Medeiros, and Thomas Powers, served on the Executive Board. In the late autumn, we received our class rings, designed the previous year by our Ring Committee. A class project of selling fruit cakes was successful during the holiday season. In March, four members of our class, George Amaral, Barbara Bouchard, Ronald Chasse, and Thomas Powers were initiated into the Honor Society during a solemn ceremony. April 29 was a date that will always remain in our memories, for that was the night of our Junior Prom, with its theme, Arabian Nights.” On this very special night, we danced under a lavish Arabian tent. The climax of the evening was reached when Cynthia Desroches was crowned Queen. She was attended by Dawn Logan, her lady-in-waiting; Elinor Austenberg, Rita Brieze, Kathleen Fletcher, Linda Holmes, Sandra Laliberte, Jane Tillotson, and June Wyss. A very important day in our high school years was Junior Day. Barbara Bouchard was the recipient of the College Club Book Award, and Thomas Booth received the Harvard Club Book Award. Our president, Thomas Murphy, accepted the symbolic mantle of leadership from Randall Leisey, the President of the Senior Class in the tra¬ ditional ceremony. With the realization that we would soon be the responsible leaders of our school, we solemnly left the auditorium. Last September we returned to the halls of Fairhaven High School to begin our final year. We looked forward with great anticipation to the activities of the coming year. The first duty which we performed as seniors was the election of officers. Barbara Bouchard was chosen President; Thomas Booth, Vice-President; Howard Barrow, Sec¬ retary; Thomas Powers, Treasurer, while George Amaral, Thomas Carvalho, Andrea Cromie; Susan Hartigan, and Emerson Hiller, served as the Executive Board. Break¬ ing with tradition, we decided to present a musical as our Senior production. Briga- doon,” by Lerner and Loewe, was performed at the Junior High School on April 7 and April 8. June 9 was a significant day for us. As on the previous Junior Day we had re¬ ceived the mantle, so now did we relinquish it to the Class of 1968 as Jeffrey Silva President of the Junior Class accepted this symbol of responsibility. In the evening we attended our Prom which was held in the Gold Room of the New Bedford Hotel. Senior Vespers were held June 11 in the Old Auditorium. Our Graduation, which was held in the Larch Avenue Auditorium on June 14, ended four years that we shall never forget. 41 The Class of 1967 can be very grateful for the wonderful job which the class of¬ ficers and executive board have done this past year. In addition to arranging class proj¬ ects, the officers made arrangements for the Senior prom and other Senior functions. Our class officers have shown the qualities of leadership and responsibility in aiding the class through our Senior year. EXECUTIVE BOARD: G. Amaral, T. Cavalho, E. Hiller, A. Cromie, S. Your friends could only sit and cry With hearts so full of fear. The sweetness of your laugh no more Shall make our sad hearts gay— Your friendship we can share no more For God has taken you away. Your lovely eyes no more shall See The things you loved the best, But, Cindy, you’re with us in memory Though you’ve departed to eternal rest. CINDY Too soon you left this world of hate An angel took your arm And led you through the great pearl gate Where you’re now safe from harm. You left too soon to say good-bye Too soon did you depart. You were too young and sweet to die And take a part of each heart. I know you’re happy where you are But missed by all your friends— And since you’ve gone away so far A part of each happy life ends. 79 Black and gold streamers forming an Arabian tent transformed our auditorium into an exotic fantasyland. After greeting the patrons and patronesses, we waltzed to the entrancing music of Ed Canto’s Orchestra. In the midst of palm trees, harem dancers, and magic carpets, Cynthia Desroches was crowned Queen by Peggy Bouley, last year’s lady- in-waiting. Surrounding our Queen and her lady- in-waiting, Dawn Logan, were Elinor Austen- berg, Rita Brieze, June Wyss, Kathleen Fletcher, Jane Tillotson, Linda Holmes, and Sandra Lali- berte, the court. Following the coronation, we all joined in the Grand March, led by our class president, Thomas Murphy, and his date. In 1966 the Fairhaven High Blue Devils per¬ formed valiantly, but unfortunately they were unable to produce many victories. However, they displayed remarkable determination and courage and never gave up. This marked the second year for Sal Lombardo as head monitor of the Blue Devils and, assisted by Coaches Richard Arieta and Mike Dodge, he did a fine job in keeping spirits up and teaching good sportsmanship in the darkest hours. This season also marked Fairhaven High’s en¬ trance to the newly formed Capeway Conference League. We have Given perhaps our Hands, hearts, and Faith when they Were needed. But now we must Look ahead into A new world, A world waiting For us to emerge. We may never P|iss this way again, -And we can’t Gd back. We must begin This new Journey of life. y uf THt MiLUCtUT UBHAfflT A!WMAV N, MAM Kmm t
