Jltne crnii practical Arts The fine and practical arts courses at Fairhaven High School give us the opportunity to learn by doing.” The fine arts department, while doing its utmost to prepare those so inclined for artistic careers, also gives every student a media for self-expression and an appreciation of beauty. DOROTHY DIDOMENICO B.M. Mrs. DiDomenico is our music supervisor. A graduate of Boston University, she enjoys cook¬ ing and reading in her spare time. ELIZABETH MANDELL Mrs. Mandell, our art supervisor, graduated from the School of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. Among her interests are block printing and portrait painting. JOSEPH RAPOZA Mr. Rapoza, our art teacher, is a graduate of Bradford Durfee School of Technology. In his spare time he enjoys modern jazz, sports car racing, and painting.

The home economics courses train girls in the best possible way—by giving them the chance to create under trained supervision. This also is the function of Fairhaven’s industrial shops, where boys learn the rudiments of a trade or merely to use their hands constructively and creatively. With T-square and lathe, we are helped along in our search. GENEVIEVE R. MODESTO Mrs. Modesto attended Bridgewater State Col¬ lege, Fitchburg State College, Rhode Island School of Design, and Syracuse University. She teaches clothing and homemaking. RICHARD L. ARIETA B.S. Mr. Arieta is a graduate of New Bedford Institute of Technology and Bridgewater State College. He has also done graduate work at Siena College. Mr. Arieta teaches mechanical drawing, mathematics. He also is our assistant football coach, junior varsity basketball coach, and coach of our golf team. JOSEPH E. LeBLANC Mr. LeBlanc teaches printing and industrial arts. He is a graduate of St. Anthony School. After school, he enjoys working in his own print shop. WALTER SAWICKI Mr. Sawicki teaches industrial arts and shop. He attended New Bedford Institute of Tech¬ nology, Keene State College, and Bridgewater State College. He cites his interests as golfing, hunting, and fishing.
