foreign languages Knowledge of the rudiments of another language is a vital part of what we learn in Latin, French, and Spanish classes, but it is, in fact, only a portion of the true scope of study. By studying Latin we learn of the ancient and memorable Roman civilization; we study her society and read the works of her greatest authors. In French and Spanish we become acquainted with modern civilizations whose cultures and languages live today. This too is a part of our search. DONALD J. B. DUFOUR B.A. M.Ed. Mr. Dufour is the head of the Foreign Lan¬ guages Department. A graduate of Assump¬ tion College and Bridgewater State College, he teaches French. His interests include tennis, camping, gardening, and reading modern French novels. He is the only faculty member of Mr. Rapoza’s Art Club. ANTHONY G. BALDASSARRE A.B. Mr. Baldassarre teaches Spanish and French, but is also interested in Latin, Italian, and Por¬ tuguese. He graduated with honors from Boston University. His favorite pastimes are playing the organ and the piano. EDITH G. DIAS A.B. Mrs. Dias, who teaches Latin and French, is an alumna of Pembroke College. In her spare time she enjoys reading, the theatre, and music. Mrs. Dias also takes great pleasure in traveling. Many of her summers have been spent touring European countries. 16
