iFnrrhmrfc As June approaches, the first chapter of a book, the life of every Senior, is coming to a close. Each of us faces graduation with mingled emotions of joy and sadness. High school has given us the basis for additional formal education, the incentive for self-education, an appreciation of the past, and hope for the future. Furthermore, our secondary schooling has equipped many to earn a living. In addition, education has increased our tolerance. It has also taught us to work, to accept failure, to try anew, and finally to achieve. As we conclude this chapter of a book that is still small in dimension, awaiting us is the infinite encyclopedia of the world. You will note in this 1956 edition of the HUTTLESTONIAN that quotations from Shakespeare form the theme of the book. His thoughts and comments on a multitude of subjects are immortal. He has given mankind laughter, philosophy, true observations, studies of personality, and ethical reassurance. As we peruse the yearbook today and in the future, we hope that the Class of 1956 will be able to relive school days, recollect happy-go-lucky experiences, and recall friends. In the words of Shakespeare, may the HUTTLESTONIAN “hold the mirror up to nature,” and may its reflections prove pleasurable and profitable. Now, as we venture forth to the future and the uncertain, our goal is to fulfill the ideals and aspirations which our God, our country, and our school have set for us. Katharine Mahoney, ’56 Editor-in-Chief
