'I ,JFF .Nl n 4 Q ' If km . at i O 'SJ' FOO TPRIN TS One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the Lord. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand: one belonging to him, and the other to the Lord. When the last scene of his life flashed before him. he looked back at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life there was only one set of footprints. He noticed that it happened at the very lowest and saddest times in his life. This really bothered him and he questioned the Lord about it. Lord, you said that once I decided to follow you. you'd walk with me all the way. But I have noticed that during the most trouble- some times in my life, there was only one set of footprints. I don't understand why when I needed you the most you would leave me. The Lord replied, My precious, precious child. I love you and I would never leave you. During your times of trial and suffering. when you saw only one set of footprints. it was then that l carried you. Can We Talk? nllull u i n--' u nn n ,ni ..::!!::i' , , , , umm l Gorbachev and Reagan partake in some Fireside Chat during their summit talks in Il November. During that meeting these great leaders discussed the U.S.S.R. withdraw- ing its troops from Afghanistan, but only if that country remained under Soviet control. Other issues included the U.S. ultimately removing all its intermediate-range missiles from Western Europe and the cancellation of Star Wars. Talks came to a sudden halt in April when it was discovered that U.S. had continued nuclear testing. You Say You Want A Revolution When Phillipine President Ferdinand Marcos scheduled an election in February. he grossly underestimated the mass appeal of his housewife opponent. Corazon Acquino. As a result of an unpredicted victory. Acquino took the presidency of the Phillipines to revenge her husbands unlawful murder at the Manila airport and bring government back to the hands ofthe people. Question and skepticism rest with how effectively Acquino vvill lead her nation. Is it possible to alter both economically and socially. a state that has been manipu- lated by the tyranny ofa dictator like Marcos?
