It is rare to find a man who so loves wisdom as to live according to its dictates, a life of simplicity, independence, magnanimity, and trust. Such a man is Reverend George Mahan, S.l., and it is for these reasons that we take pride in dedicating this book to him. Soft spoken yet eloquent, assertive yet tender, Father Mahan is at ease with both his administrative duties and his responsibilities as housemaster of Southeast Dorm. As Execu- tive Assistant to the President he handles many facets of university administration, and despite the pressures and turmoils of his work he is always ready to greet someone with a smile, and a willingness to listen. One of his colleagues epitemized his character as being the essence of warmth and personal magnitude, and this is evidenced through his outstanding work with the United Way Fund. Treating this as a delightful hobby Father pursues his fund raising activities with a relentless spirit for achievement, and an in- domitable appetite for success. A captivating solicitor, Father produces awesome effects for the United Way. His popularity with students has been established as the result of his residency in Southeast Dorm. The door to his suite is always open and students are frequently seen inside, using the kitchen facilities or enjoying T.V. lt is also comforting and rare to find a man with such a clear vision of life, and who brings to life a sense of purpose and fulfillment. His earnestness and devotion typify the spirit of Christianity that he has dedicated his life to, and categorize him as a man of peaceg a giant among men.
