The Student Council is an honor group com- posed of the class officers of the high school classes. It is the aim of this group to encourage all desirable school activities and to help pro- mote those things that make a better school, and a more wholesome school community. Our motto is Good Scholarship, Good Conduct, Good Citizenship. Within the Student Council is the Safety Council whose aim is to promote safety in the school, home and on the highway. The 1953 CHIEFTAIN staft's goal has been to present to the best of its ability an interesting pictorial account of life at Fair- field during 1953. Plans for the yearbook were begun in the summer of 1952 and continued through until our final deadline, February 19. We, the staff, wish to thank the Art Department under the direction of Mr. Bernard Le Poris, the Commercial Department under the auspices of Mr. Harry Allen, Mr. Fred Stroehlein, school photographer, Miss Jeanne Luddy, the annual advisor, and all other students and faculty members who helped make the CHIEFTAIN a success. Fairfield's Chapter sponsored a public square dance and also gave two food baskets to needy families at Christmas. Initiation of new members took place at a school assembly, February 27.
