Math-Science Beautify School One of the more active of Fair- field ' s extra curricular activity groups, the Math-Science Club, was kept busy with numerous events in its first year. A constitution was drafted to provide a guideline for future programs. The Math-Science Club was active in helping plan and carry out the local Science Fair. The club spon- sored several Fairfield projects to the Regional Science and Engineer- ing Fair at Bethel College. Fair- field did the best of all participating schools at the Fair. A trip to Cook Nuclear Center in Bridgeman, Mich., enjoyed by many science students, was also spon- sored by the group. 1300 trees were planted in the spring to beautify the school grounds. FFA Wins Many Honors. Fairfield ' s chapter was involved in many FFA activities. The Soil judg- ing team placed first in the county, and the dairy judging team placed fourth. Our Fairfield chapter rank- ed second in district contest with five first places. Tractor trouble shooting team also won the dis- trict competition. State entries in the proficiency a- ward are Ralph Lutes, and Randy Steffen. Ralph was also one of In- diana ' s top four agri-business men. Also featured in the year ' s activi- ties was a pest contest, garden seed sales, plus a slave auction with free chilli and ice cream. Star green- hand was Ben Whirledge. Student Council Provide Picnic Tables The Student Council was ac- tive this year with various pro- jects. They sponsored an all school candy sale and with the money earned they bought a school information sign, furni- ture for an outdoor area and also sponsored a Student Cen- ter.
