Grant. lnstrumental Soloist Lois Parsons, our violin soloist, is a versatile treshrnan girl who also entered the vocal solos. Our cornet solo honors were won by Dick Grant, a junior. He was one ot the three contest- ants to get a superior at the sub-district contest. He received a good at Davenport. Dick Martin supplied the wind and the technique tor the tuloa solo. His solo, Beezleloub one ot the ditticult tuba solos, went over big. When he played at the sub-district, he received a superior. He got a good at Davenport. Eugene Spry was our trombonist. He won a rating ot excellent at the sub-district contest. Our baritone soloist, Kenneth Larson, received a Superior at the sub-district contest. He went on to the district, where he pulled down an Excellent Arlene Spry went to the district contest at Davenport where she won a rating ot good. She won a superior rating at the sub-district contest at Fairfield. Betty Kirkpatrick received an excellent at the sub-district contest this year. This was her tirst year ot high school competition. She is beginning to show a mastery ot the violin already. Evelyn Kepler did a tine iob by winning an excellent at the sub-district this year. Our tlutest this year was Doris Ringlespach. She won an excellent at the sub-district contest. Her solo On Wings ot Song was skilltully played and she will go tar with the tlute in the tuture. Bob Walker was our pec horn player. He received an excellent in the sub-district contest. Lewis Nady, saxaphone soloist, received a rating ot excellent in the sub-district contest-we never could see how a tellow could keep his tingers out ot those holes. Don Hartman represented Fairtield in the snare drum division. This was a new event in the contest. Don won a rating ot superior in the sub-district and excellent at the district contest, which was held at Davenport. We are expecting big things ot Don next year.
