THE SPIRIT OF FAIRFIELD HIGH SCHOOL Occasionally, we need to stop and take stock of our- selves. It is altogether fitting and proper that the theme of The Spirit of Fairfield High was selected for the 1959-60 Crucible. The world spirit as used here means enthusiasm, liveliness and loyalty. The spirit of a law is more im- portant than its words. Isay then that the spirit of Fair- field High is more important than most of the words spoken there. The spirit of a school reflects the feelings of its stu- dents. This then should be a challenge to all students to conduct themselves in such a manner as to leave a good im- pression upon the general public. A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches. It follows then that the display of a fine school spirit is a reflection on the institution itself. Fairfield High School enjoys a good name. Let's keep it that way. , M G. Virgil Nunn, Superintendent

3 They said it couldn't be done. A well-known advertising slogan of today which could easily have expressed the challenge accepted by the student body of Fairfield High School at the beginning of the school year 1959-60. Their accomplishments bear witness to the fact that success was achieved in many projects and activities. The adopting of a new ring design, the establishing of an all-time high record in the magazine sales campaign, and the winning of the county championship football game may be treasured with pride by those who made these accomplishments possible. The Senior Class is to be congratulated for the leadership displayed, and encouragement it offered to each of you for your continued growth as individuals. From your experiences of work- ing together, you have profited, and in your future development may the principles of learn- ing be applied. The cooperation of the other classes is also recognized and appreciated. The outstanding school spirit exemplified this year can continue to grow year by year as YOU so will it. They said it couldn't be done, Yes, we may always hear it, But we know it CAN be done, If we have the Tiger Spirit. I sincerely hope that this yearbook will always be a reminder of pleasant memories for each of you. Your principal, . I. Morgan
