Though time will dull our memories, These glorious days be with us yet; They’re deep imprinted in our hearts, We’ll not forget. —S. Jay Roberts 17 SENIOR CLASS PLAY GREEN STOCKINGS In a certain locality there is a custom whereby an elder sister is compelled to wear green stockings at the wedding of a younger sister, provided she herself happens to be unwed or unbetrothed. After having worn the hated stockings twice, Celia Farraway rebels when the time approaches for her to wear them the third time. She therefore invents a sweetheart of the name of Smith, and excuses his non-appearance by saying that immediately after she became engaged he was obliged to sail for the war in South Africa. The surprise of her sisters forces her into details of supposed fact which have to be manufactured on short notice. She is even induced to write a letter to him; and though she thinks the letter is destroyed, her younger sister mails it. In an endeavor to extricate herself from the predicament, she later succeeds in having a notice published in the Times of the death of a Colonel Smith on October 11. However, what she thought was a fictitious name is really the name of an amy officer, wno receives the letter, and turns up under an assumed name immediately after the death notice is published. His interview with Celia results in a series of amusing situations which terminate happily. 18 JUNIOR CLASS SEMESTER VII OFFICERS President.......... Vice-President....... Six selected voices of the Glee Club, representative in vocal ability and achievement, began rehearsals under the direction of the supervisor of music, Mrs. Maude Woodward Nunn. Because of the pleasing voioes of these girls and their ability to sing difficult harmony with ease, this group has obtained much popular favor. They have appeared on many occasions at publio performances and church and civic activities. Representing the Music Department, as well as the Glee Club, this group has brought before the public in a most effective manner, the outstanding achievements of the Jbirfield High School Music Department. Not only does a student learn the safe and proper way to handle an automobile, but also he learns the principal mechanisms of the automobile; physical and mental reaotions to various emergencies; and laws pertaining to automobile drivers and to pedestrians. After having taken a Drivers Training Course sponsored by the Alabama Motorists Association at the University of Alabama, Mr. A. E. Houk became the Safe Driving instructor for Fairfield High School. Fairfield High is the only high school in the state that offers this course to its students, and is duly proud of this distinction. 64 BACK ROW Assistant Coach Rouk; E.
