FOOTBALL REVIEW The football spirit rose to a high pitch this year as fifty-two boys turned outfor the first day of practice headed by three new coaches--Roy Gatewood, George Sawyer, and Dwight Alvis. Even though our opponents, on the whole, had more weight and height than we did, we outscored them IO7-106. We had two boys who were outstanding this year--Van Buskirk, who made all-state and all-conference quarterback, and Samford, who received honorable mention on the all-state team. We ended the season with a 4-4 record, but, with a few breaks, our coaches thought we could have had a 7-I record. Everyone thought we had a better team this year than last, and the school was very proud of it. 51 goofdaf .7!1ri K 5 Look Af Her Fly Captain Van Buskirk Sixty-y Readyl Sell Gal Bro McClintock and Mascot Butler ard run by Van Buskirk ck, Samford, and BASKETBALL TEAM TOP ROW: Roy Gatewood, Head Coach, Lewis Songer, Jim Toombs, Bob Shaw, Ferdie Dickey, Tom Nicholson, Ross De Boskey Harlan Payton, George Sawyer, Assistant Coach- Dwight Alvis Assistant Coach MIDDLE ROW- Virgil Trower Dicke Wood, B111 . . . . , y Gray, Curtis Tannahill, Eldon Eckleberry, Tony Smith, Charles Smith, Larry McCoy, Bob Fleming.
