Hoffman, Barbara Sanders, Donna Sanders, P s 's Af fs.. -f' LEFT: Brenda Sanders, Mary Herring, Evelyn Filsinger, Judy Whited, Nancy Davis. ll 'Z 1 no fx 2 9 3 a 4 7 6 5 .fgclminidfraf P Q SUPERVISIN G PRINCIPAL George B Inskrp O R SCHOOL S PROGRESS In 1857 Amer can scientists were attempting to lay the first Atlantic cable In the year 1951 we are attempting to develop satellites and rockets which will reach the moon Our nation has indeed made scientific progress and we have improved our standards and living co ndrtions over these years During these 100 years the educational system of America has continually improved Our yearbook this year commemorates the growth of the Fairfield Joint School System on IIS tenth birthday At one time there were as many as twenty one and two room schools located in Fairfield Borough Hamiltonban Township and liberty Township The first class graduated from the Fairfield l-hgh school in 1910 There were three people tn this class The high school was a two room building located in Fairfield This building was replaced by the present Fairfield hlementary School in 1905 The Fair field High School continued as a three year high school until 1931 when it became a four ycar high Township lhgh School Then because of increased costs of education and transportation our school board organized our present school During the first year the new high school included grades 7 8 and 9 A class was added each year until the school included grades 7 8 9 10 11 and 1 I The first class graduated in 1954 At the present time our high school is offering all the courses recommended by the state de partment These courses include commercial vo cationalagriculture vocational home economics in dustrial arts and academic fields The first addition to ourbuilding was completed in 1950 and the second in 1954 Most of you have been a part of our school system since its organization and it has contributed much to your knowledge and training lwould like to impress upon you the importance of continuing your education and growth throughout your life As you become alumni of our school continue to take an interest in public affairs and promote the in terests ofhome church and school for democracy de pcnds on thc continued interest ofthe citizens in all walks of life lj 52 7 r 5 ' '. . - . , ' , ' ' . , r- l ' s ,l ' s -1 ' . SCHOOL BOARD OF 1958 The School Board of 1958 has elected its new members and is looking forward to a successful year in all they do. Their officers are: C. A. Wills, Presidentg Joseph Lowe, Vice-President, Earl Hartzell, Secretary, J. B. Waddle as Treasurer. The average number of years any member has served is eleven years with Mr. Cease serving twenty -two years. Also, Mr, Flohrserving twenty years as a school director. The organization meets once a month. They also have a teacher committee, property and supply committee, and a transportation committee. Their budget is increasing each year with the largest expenditures being teacher salaries and transportation. We are proud to say that our directors serve without pay. Through their far seeing and planning for the future, we have been fortunate to have such a school with the ma- jority help ofthe school board. Our School Board of1958 is endeavoring with much enthusiasm to strive and to make this a better school for the future in the years to come. Also the School Board has three additional members not shown in the picture above.
