Moments to Remember At long last we have attamed the goal to wh1ch we have been lookmg for four years For most of us the way hasn't been easy These past years have been years of v1ctory and defeat tr1umph and fallure Now we are leav1ng F H S and our school l1fe 15 fast commg to a close Let us Journey back through these four years wh1ch have been frlled wlth work and fun Our hlgh school days began 1n the fall of 1952 when agroup of f1fty boys and grrls entered the halls of F H S We elected Barbara Renner class pres1dent and she led us over the rough spots whlch always pop up before a Freshman class As we chose our schedules and clubs attended h1gh school assemblles and dances respons1b1l1t1es were beg1nn1ng to make themselves known to us Then a year had gone by and we found ourselves Sophomores We elected Joyce Hardman presldent Herb Grngell v1ce pres1dent Joyce Kepner secretary and Conn1e Schroll treasurer We were represented by Barbara Renner and Ed Spence ln Student Councll Mr Insklp appolnted our class advxsors Mr McAndrews and M1ss Welssenfluh One of our mam aCt1V1t1CS was sponsormg the sock hop f1rst dance m the new gym Our members both boys and grrls began to take the1r part 1n mter scholastlc sports We were beg1nn1ng to lose some of the shyness retamed from our Freshman year and were start1ng to frnd our way around We ordered our class rmgs and all to soon we were br1ng1ng our Sophomore year to a close Three months later we entered the halls of F H S once agarn We had dw1ndled 1n number to th1rty two As we looked about us we saw the same faces but some thmg entlrely dlfferent shone 1n them Each of our fr1ends had changed from a 'sllly Soph to a more serlous 1nd1v1dual We elected Ed Spence pres1den Nancy Metz v1ce pres1dent Irene Bowlmg secretary and Ruth Jean Sltes treasurer Gary Dolly and Susle Martln represented us 1n Student Counc1l Jan 1ce Sanders gave Fa1rf1eldH1gh School the d1st1nct1on of holdmg the Adams County Cherry Ple Champ1onsh1p In March one of our members Conn1e Schroll was chosen by popular vote to relgn as queen of the Mard1 Gras Carnlval The h1ghl1ght of our Junlor year was the Mlnstrel Fun And Fool1shness whlch we presented Aprzl 14 and 15 Under the d1rect1on of M1ss We1ssenfluh and Mr McAndrews we made the flrst mlnstrel ln F H S a b1g success Our last event of th1s memorable year was the Jun1or Sen1or Prom We used a mght club theme and developed It mto a prom f1t for lungs Ol- '56 we ha1l you' Yes Sen1ors at last' Real1z1ng th1s was the last year of our school act1v1t1es, we set out to make lt unforgettable We re elected Ed Spence, presxdent chose Herb Glngell as v1ce presldent, Irene Bowllng sec retary treasurer and Conme Schroll and D1ck Deardorff to represent us 1n Stu dent Count11 Th1s was the bus1est year of all We elected our yearbook Staff w1th Barbara Renner edrtor, and Martha M0r1tL co ed1tor We had p1ctures taken ordered announcements and chose name cards November 4 and 5 we presented our class play Shy Guy a h1lar1ous s1tuat1on comedy d1rected by Mlss McCleaf In the early sprmg we took a tr1p to New York C1ty wh1ch none of us shall ever for et At ist came the day we had long awa1ted our g1:aduat1on After hstenmg to an 1nsp1r1ng address, we heard our names called and we recewed our drplomas Our hopes and dreams had been fulf1lled Yes lt has taken a long tlme and yet that tlme has passed quxckly As the grad uatxng class of 1956 we say Farewell 1 . , . , . . . . . . . . . g . . 1 1 . 1 ' 1 1 . . . - 1 ' 1 a ' 1 . . , . . . . - . , - .
