I :lv Do Commercial Inferesf In the early fall, soon after school opened, we began to organize our club program. A list offields of interest from which we were to make our choice was given us. After we had made our selection and each club had been formed, We elected officers. We then outlined our plans for the year's activities. The Conservation Club was formed to fur- ther the study of the preservation of our great outdoors. The program consisted of demonstra- tions and discussions on the guarding and pro- tecting of our wild life and natural resources. A favorite among the boys this year was the Chef's Club. In this club the boys attempted to master not only the art of cooking, but also that of table arrangement and meal planning. The Nursing Club was formed for girls who are interestedin being professional nurses. Its purposes are to teach the principles of the pro- fession and to study and discuss the character qualities essential in a good nurse. The Shop Service Club is made up mostly of boys interested in the field of industrial arts . Their main project is to repair school property and to keep the school grounds in top condition. The aim of the Tri-Hi-Y is to create, main- tain, and extend through the home, school, and community, high standards of Christian Charac- ter. This explains its purposes. Its activities include catering to shut-ins of the area, and en- tertaining the children of Hoffman's Orphanage. Library -ma i Clubs Majorette In Photography Club, members study and dis- cuss better methods of taking pictures and de- veloping film. Proper care and operation of motion picture projectors and cameras are taught, also. The purpose of the Varsity Club is to create interest and develop skill in various sports. It is comprised of both girls and boys. To be a member of this organization, one must first earn at least one letter in a varsity sport. One ofthe new clubs formed this year is the Dramatics Club. The goal of this group is to develop the art of acting. One ofthe projects was a study and discussion of the art of applying makeup. The members were divided into groups, which made character studies and presented short skits. The Library Club was created to foster an interest in the library among its members and throughout the school. The members learn how to keep the library in good running order. They also are taught something about the qualities necessary in a good librarian. The Junior High Boys' Athletic Club was or- ganized to encourage athletics for boys in junior high school, to develop a spirit of fair play and to promote sportsmanship among its members. The boys have participated in various sports such as basketball and volleyball. The Majorette Club is open to girls in junior highschool who are interested in becoming ma- jorettes in senior high. The members learn, practice, and compare new routines and tech- niques. Tri-Hi-Y 90900 BUPP S DAIRY Home of Prlze Wlnmng Mllk 7 877 York Street H Pe yl Golng to College?
