9 N I O 1 9 4 1 CLASS HISTORY In Senteno r, 1957, a group of twenty 'ive excited boys and girls entered the doors of Fairfield High School for the firs time. There they were greeted by members of the three higher classes and by the following teachers, Mr Slavbaugh principal, Mr. H v r, Miss McCleaf and Miss Stoner. The group was immediately assigned to their home zoom, which proved to be the science room, and Mr Hoover became the home room teacher. Thus began the history of the class of nineteen hundred and forty one. Seve al we ks later we held our first class meeting Officers elected then included Jarren Baltzlev, president, time on e became prominent in all school affairs. This our most prominent members. Bau1gardner to Arendtsvwlle Mavsie Slonaker, Betty Rebert and Mildred Naugle From this members of the F H S family and our class was prominent first vear ended all too soon and with it we lost some of Llovd Benner transferred to Gettysburg High school, Earl Vocational School and lilbur Sites decided to stop school altogether. The next vear found t1e rest of us willing and able to take up the work where we had l ft off More enthusiastic and experienced than before, we began the year under the leadership of Miss Stoner and with Mavsie Slonaker as our new president. The other officers were Betty Hebert, Mildred Naugle and Mark Deardorff During the year we lost two mo e Jmsf s, Richard Maugle and Warren Baltzley. Dick moved to Gettysburg and Var fn s upped go'ng to school However, the rest of us still had our eyes on the final goal and we1e slowly and surely advancing toward it During the year five of our group were in the play, 'Dying To Live which Mr Hoover directed. These members were Betty Rebert, Nlldrod Iaugle, Faye slonaker, Roy Musselman and Richard Naugle Sept mbnr, 1959, saw us begin our thlrd year. Our advisor was Miss McCleaf and our officers were Maysle Slonaker, Betty Robert, Betty Cline and Mildred Naugle, This year we presented the play, 'Jimmy Be Carefulu It was directed by Miss Stoner and proved to be a decided success Many ol the boys and girls became prominent in athletics and other school affairs Unfortunately we lost another member and our beginning group of twenty five was enter the bonds The nineteen 1940 This e r down to nineteen The member lost was Helen Singley, who decided to of Holy Matrimony. remaining members entered school for their senior year in September, Mr. Slavbaugh became our home room teacher and we reelected all of the officers from our 1unlor vear nlrlshn McG1aughl1n became president of the student nmncll, Betty Rebert editor of the Hi Lites and many members of the class were out s andin in the var'ous school activities. 'Bobn Musselman, Roy nusselman, Mike Dear- do1fr, Irlshu NcGlaughlin, 'Jake' Cluck, Maysle Slonaker, Faye Slonaker, Pollyn Mc Cllaf, 'Dotn Baker, 'Millie' Naugle and Betty Rebert took prominent parts in our var- ious athlet1o programs 'Jake proved to be one of the best basketball managers we have ever had, HJakenCluck, Paul Cluck, Freda Kump, Roy Musselman, Faye and Maysie Slonaker were all outstanding band members and UArt' Jetzel had one of the leads in tne all school play, 'Introducln Susan We presented our own play, nThe Vinding Roadn At he tlne thfs is being wrltten we are all looking forward to Commencement and our senior lass trip to New York City low that we have completed one of the major tasks of our lives we ust say Au Re voir to our schoolmates and teachers, We are reluctant to leave this school where we en1oyed ourselves so much but as we go in to the world it is our hope that we may be as successful there as we have b en in our school lives And each one of our group is sincere ln wishing the best to those who remain benlnd.
