MOTHER There's no other word thats spoken 'Neath the starry sky above Can so touch our hearts, as 'Mother Or inspire so pure a love It awakened with our being, And in sweet maternal ways, It was hallowed as 'twas nurtured In our happy childhood days ONDY DAD Onlv a dad with a tired face, Coming home from the dailv race, Bringing little of gold or fame, To show how well he has played the game But glao in his heart that his own re1o1ce To see him come and hear his vo'ce Onlv a dad with a brood of four, One of ten million men o more, Plodding along in the daily strife, Bearing the whips and the scorns of life With never a whisper of pain or hate For the sake of those who at home await Through our ills and cares and sorrows No one else is e'er so true, Or so willing to forgive us, whatsoever we may do In our eyes and thoughts no other Has so kind and saintlv face, And of all we fondly cherish, None can ever fill her place E B Grimes Only a dad, neither rich or proud Merelv one of the surging crowd, Telling, striving from day to dav, Facing whatever may come his way, Silent whenever the harsh condemn, And bearing it all for the love of them Onlv a dad but he gives his all To smooth the way for his children small, Doing with courage stern and grim, The deeds that his father did for him This is the line that for him I pen, Onlv a dad, but the best of men Edgar A Guest BUILDING A TEMPLE A builder builded a temple, He wrought it with grace and skill, Pillars and groins and arches All fashioned to work his will Men said as they saw its beauty 'It shall never know decay Great is thy skill, O builder Thy fame shall endure for aye A teacher builded a temple, With loving and infinite care, Planning each arch with patience, Lavinp each stone with prayer None praised his unseeming efforts None knew of his wondrous plan, For the temple the teacher builoed Was unseen by the eyes of man Gone is the bu1lder's temple, Crumbled into the dust, Low lies each stately pillar, fxffziy f fi r Food for consuming rust But the temple the teacher builded Will last while the ages roll, For that beautiful unseen temple Is a childs im ortal soul ' WWUYUMPWNSNX- be J7 ft' DWDICATION OUR PARUNTS AND TEACHERS YWW AQ, , The Graduating Class Of 1941? lovingly dedicate this Year Book!
