During his high school career he has been a good student and faithful follower in all school activities and this spirit should carry him far in his future plans Besides this he ls very fun loving and can generally be found in the midst of a laughing group. Art' is well liked by all, especially the opposite sex. Possibly that is the big reason why he goes to Gettysburg every Saturday night Could there be a Kuykendall girl in the case? When the roll w s taken last Septem ber there was a total of one hundred and eighteen Uuulls in attendance Thls was fourto on more toon the previous year The freshman class enrollment broke all previous records with a membership of forty tvo, the sophomore twenty ix, 1unior tnirtx one and senior nineteen While this increased attendance w s welcomed by us all it presented a greater problem than many peopl realized, the question of where to place everyone in our rather small space But, thanks to the helpful spirit and cooperative attitude of all, this pro blem was solved in the best possible wav and we began our school work Of the total there were sixty four girls and fifty four boys The faculty membership remained the same with Mr Slavbnxgh, supervising principal, and Mr Sheffer, Miss TcCleaf, Miss Stoner, Mr Har ner, Mr Tlgnter and Miss 'ansber er, teachers. Miss Scott and Mr Wartin were again in cnarge o the grade schools where seventy pupils were enrolled To gulde our affairs dur ins the year the Boro School Board was composed of Mr Harry Brown, president, Mr. Geo McGlaawnlin, vice preslient, Mr P M Rohrbaugh, treasurer, Mr M F Stoner, secretary, a 1 Mr J B vaddle Nr Cleason Herring was again the building custodian and continued his efficient worl of thr prev'ous year. The first activity on our program was the fresh an reception and, as in previous years this was a well at ended and enjoyed affair. Following this cane the athletic play, The Strange Bequest' coached bv diss Stoner We also had a vell planned Hallowe'en Dance in Octoo r ChanPing tue proc du e ol former years the senio s next presented their play, nThc Jindlna Roadu ani iss c loaf was the director of this fine production Then r Slafba1gh took charg ol an all school product4on, 'lntroducln' Susan and a record crowd spent two hours in continuous laughter To finish our dramatic program the uniors xzder th direction ol hr Shaffer, presented tue thriller, uThe Scarecrow Creeps and most of the puplls plrtlclpated in a Comm ncement Minstxel, under the direction of Mr act ve Ther entertained regularly at the plays and then produced an excellent musical program in April Many ol our number also participated in P T A programs and other school and co1munltv a fairs The atdlftlc program was practlcally the same as that of previous years A maiorlty o tne studen s took part in this sports program Mr Shaffer, in his first year of coa h qv, produced a soccer team which proved to be one of the best in the county. The boys L11 girls basketball teams were both coached by Hr Slavbaugh and, although their records rel not very outstanding, provided many interestlng exhibitions In baseball Mr Martin had his usual strong team while girls softball, coached by Mr Slaybaugh, again gave us a team which compared favomablv xith them all. Basketball and softball tournaments were played by both boys and girls They created a great deal of fun and much interest was stomn bv tle stuients The vinning teams in softball won awards presented by the Pepsi ola onp nv A Hplav dayn,s1m11ar to those held in previous years, was held for the grade students of the vicinity and was well received by them Commencement week was more outstanding than any we have ever had The Baccalaureate Sermon was preached by Rev A W Geigley on Mav 18 and Commencement Exercises were held in the Conmunltf Buildlng on May 21 Mr William S Livengood, Secretary of Internal Aff airs for the State ol Pennsylvania, was the main speaker During the week the Commence ment flnstrel was presented The advertisers in our yearbook were our guests on this occ asvon A commencement dance was also held To wind up the year we went on our annual pic nic to Hershey Park and th Senior Class, chaperoned by Miss McCleaf and Mr Slavbaugh spent four delightful days in New York City. The trip was agaln made by Greyhound Bus and many townspeople accompanied the group And so another happy school year has ended. Mav those to come be 1ust as en1oyable.
