4.-D ed Devi The Basketball season for 1957-1958 open with twenty-two boys reporting to Coa Riley. Because of the late Football season was necessary for the boys to practice thr times a day over the Christmas Holida and after that there remained only fifte of the boys. The boys elected as their captains 1 the season Sam Kirk and Charlie Tillma both Seniors. Paul Pitts and Sam Kirk were the or lettermen, from last year, but several adn tions from junior High helped to build t team. The season opened with our first gar being scheduled at Pawnee. This was exciting game but we were defeated by a loss of twelve points. Our next game was lost to Newkirk a score of 13-33. In their first home game the devils e perienced their third loss after a hard foug game with Dewey wiith the final score beii 39-61. The second home game was really thriller because of our 44-40 victory ov the Tonkawa Buccaneres. At our next home game of the year we lost to Drumright by a score of 29-61. For our first toumament of the season at Tonkawa we played Lamont and by a vie tory of 59-43 we won the right to return the next night to challenge Wanita. The boys fought to the last second but were defeated by a score of 53-47. On january the fourteenth we play Hom- iny and january the Sixteenth we played our second toumament at Cleveland only 1 be defeated by small margins. Our second game with -Hominy showed an increase in score in their favor when the final points were counted at 44-34. Up to this Cjanuary 241 we have eight more games to be played in the 57-58 season.
