Sev- eral preceeding years the Red Devils attack came from the powerful single wing. An impressive record of 12-2 win, loss record kept the Devils the number two rated team in the State. The success story started on a hot Sunday afternoon with the schedule calling tor two prac- tices a day. Thirty-six boys answered the call and all remained until the last game. The Red Devil season opened with a loss to a move experienced Cflass A llenryetta -ill-lll. Mis- takes and costly fumbles hurt our cliatices of up- setting the llens. Shidler was the first victim of the high scoring and powerful Fairfax eleven. The Tigers were scored on every way possible. l,eaving the Shidler game with a well earned victory, the boys played host to the Butcaneers from Tonkawa. After all the scoring was done the scoreboard showed 113-U in favor of the Devils. Next in line was the game with Newkirk, a team that has represented its district three years in the playoffs. The Devils iumped on the Tigers 12-Li by half time, and with three minutes remaining in the game the score was Z5-12 in favor of New- kirk, but the never say die boys from Fairfax got back into the ball game when quarterback Sam Kirk darted through the defenders and scored. New- kirk held onto the hall until three seconds remained on the clock. Raymond Wilson took a pitchout on his own All yard line and raced throughg over, and under for the score. Final score, Zo-25 in favor of Fairfax--for this victory the Devils were awarded the comeback team of the year in the Daily Okla- homan Newspaper. Double AA Tulsa C,entral B team fell under the high scoring Red Devils and went back to their big city remembering a ill-U licking. 1'airf.ix met the l'awnee Black Bears in the sixth game of the season and probably one of the most important games, for it was here we really learned how to play football. The game ended with the Devils on top by a score of 2'-6. This game made Fairfax the Northern Five conference cham- pions. A t-old, bone freezing Friday night was the condition of the weather when we went to Drum- right. The game ended with Fairfax in front by a score ol SU-fi. The ever tough Dewey Bulldogs were standing in the way of the Devils' capturing the district crown. The boys played like champions and brought hottie the victory. Final score, 31-0. The stage was set for a showdown with the big llominy Bucks. With almost 3,500 fans filling the local stadium the Devils struck pay dirt on the second play from scrimmage with the deer like run- ning of john lilsberry's oil yard run. The question was nt-ver in doubt from this point as the Red Dev- ilspushed the larger Bucksall over the field. Hom- iny was across our SU yard line twice and never deeper than our 411 yard line. Final score 32-0. This game gave the 13-B district to Fairfax and the privilege of playing Bixby in the opening round of the state play offs. K leveland's Tigers put up a great fight to try to dt-throne the champs, but lost to the Devils 40- lfl. The Devils traveled to Bixby for the opening round of district play offs. Bixby hit pay dirt first and then the touchdown duo of james Dillard and john lzlsberry made three quick six points and Sam Kirk adding the Fourth. The Devils emerged from this game victorious, the score being 27-12. Snow covered Wyandotte was the next place the Devils invaded. Snow fell all day there and completely covered the field. After a scoreless first half the defensive charges of Moe Dilbeck and Paul Ducotey iarred the ball loose and quickly turned on a fine displav of scorin . Final score 1 . S v 271-fi. Home was what the boys wanted next. We met the Spiro Bulldogs here and with a over flow crowd
