Q C Pep Club It was 12:40 on Monday, in the second week of school. Silence fell upon the study hall with darkness all about. A sudden burst of laughter and singing filled the room once again. This was the be- ginning of a new group of Devilettes. Betty Farren, our hard working presi- dent elected from the year before. opened the meeting by discussing pep clubinitiation for our new members. This was a big day for our club, with committees being appoint- ed, chairmans selected, and a calendar made out for the approaching events. Initiation came and an exciting day was here for the entire student body. The girls decked out in their outstanding cos- tumes, flocked about the football team to honor them with low bows. At our first pep assembly, Dorthy Dil- beck was awarded honors for being best sport for the day. Days passed, but Fridays were the most important to our girls. This was the day, when everyone was filled with laughter, but still there was a tense silence in the halls, because tonight a victory had to be won. Miss Charlotte Cheatwood, our sponsor, and Miss Alene Holmes honored the pep club girls and their mothers with a Christ- mas party. Next came the coronation of our 1957 Football Queen, Miss Sue Tate. The girls, working hard in their con- cessions to earn money, began planning a Football Banquet for their boys. After work and consideration the big day finally arrived and 7:30 o'clock, cou- ples began drifting into the cafeteria for the biggest highlight of the Football sea- son, our Football Banquet. It was a sad day knowing that football season had endcd for another year, but we had basketball and track to look forward to. Our basketball season opened with two out of town games and on our first home game, Miss Betty Farren, BasketballSweet- heart was crowned. Bad weather caused the postponement of some of our games. Our Devils, although defeated several times, were sustained in their faith through the confidence of the Dev- ilettes. Basketball season came and went, but will never be forgotten in the eyes of the 'students of F.H.S. Track was another highlight in our year. Although we couldn't attend many of the track meets, we were there in our thoughts. To sum it up, we've had an outstanding year with the aid ofour hardworking officers, Betty Farren, President: Deana Sawyers, Vice-President, Barbara Durst, Secretary and Treasurer, and Pat Elliott and Patsy Homan serving us as Sergeants at Arms.
