The first few days were almost exclusively for conditioning. Blocking and tackling were stressed and by the end of the first week all players were a little bruised and in some cases had lost alittle weight. The Red Devil season opened with a victory over the Sperry Tigers. Those who played in the game showed that the boys were in good shape, but the lack of experience was also evident in many positions. The second game was at Shidler and the game was on even terms throughout, ending in a 6-6 tie. liven at this time the Red Devils had not reached a peak of execution on offense and defense. Leaving the Shidler game with a tie was a little disappointing and the boys worked very hard for their third game with the Tonkawa Buc- caneers. This team fell to the Devils by a score of 20-6. Next in line was the game with Newkirk, a team being considered as a state contender and one of the strongest on the schedule. The boys did a good job when they defeated the Tigers by a score of 19-6. The boys next journeyed to Collinsville for an inter-conference game with the Tulsa 7 team. The Devils emerged from this game victorious, thc score being 27-0. FRANK WARNER ' Ifnd JIM Tl'RNI5l'l.l. Tackle DON WANN Full Back 5.1.19 4 i

The game ended with the Bears on top by a score of 14-12. The Red Devils next invaded Drumright for a game with the Tornadoes. This game ended with Fairfax in front by a score of 46-19. Dewey came next and Fairfax was defeated Sl-0, this game being the heartbreak for it put the Devils out of the running for the IBB crown. The llominy Bucks fell to the Red Devils by a score of 26-19, and the season was ended by a loss to Cleveland 20-6. At the end of the season, Don Smith, Wallace Alexander, and Dan Fubank were selected by the district coaches to he on the All-District Team. Dan Fubank, a player of whom we're all very proud, was chosen Line-man of the District , and to the coveted position of a member of the All-State Football Team. Looking back over the season, we can find many things that might have been a little more pleasant, but the enjoyment far outweighed the difficulties. Fine spirit and honest training were two outstanding features of the year.
