But yet, when we stop to think about it,we realize your simple for- mula is this:--'You like people. Never have you been too busy to lend a will- ing ear when we thought our petty troubles were too big for us to bear alone. Never have you meted out punishment in anger or disciplined us when we didn't need it. Therefore, we will al- ways remember you for the outstanding principal and man you are and for the good example you've set for all of us to follow. Superintendent V. l-OCKl'Q'I l' It is with humble sincerity, Hr. l.ockett, that we say we love and appreciate you for being the wonder- ful superintendent which you are. There isn't a problem we have that we don't feel free to talk over with you. There is hardly a day that goes by that we haven't heard a joke from your lips or seen a smile on your face. You have spent hours in planning and have taken numerous trips in making preparations for the day in which we'll move into our new school building. We hope that we can repay you in gratitude for the efforts you have extended in our behalf. Nlay we say 'thank you' for so ably guiding this school system for the past 29 years. Xle remember first of all that first day of school back in 1951 when we were lowly frosh, hav- ing at last reached high school. We looked up to the mighty sen- iors, admiring their every move- ment, and looked forward to the day when we would be able to take their places. We have now climbed the ladder and are on the top rung. As they did such a splendid job, we unhesitatingly turn the reins we have held for a year over to them, knowing they'll be in good hands. Our senior play was lots of fun and hard work but was a huge success. Miss Nelson, our wonderful sponsor, was always there, spurring us on to the very end. Soon our high school days will be over, but our business of making a Success of Cheer Leader, Tony Spearman, Sponsor, Miss Nettie Nelson our lives will be just beginning. Secretary-Treasurer, Charlotte Kingg President, Tommy Covingtong Vice-President, Jolene Nicliinney. measure up to the banquets of preceding years, but we were determined to make unior Class Officers This year has been a very busy and enjoyable one for us, the junior class. .-Xt the very beginning of school we had one major goal in mind, which wns that of making the annualjunior-Senior Banquet the biggest and best ever. We knew we would have to exert a lot of energy if ours was to that effort. Of course, we knew several hundred dollars would be required if our banquet were up to par and we therefore put on the play, 'Here Comes Ciharlief' directed by Miss Stephens. During this play every class member had an opportunity to either turn actor, use the hammer and paint brush, collect properties, sell tickets, or prompt. Now the banquet has been given and our efforts have been rewarded. That beautiful night in May will always stand out in our memories as one of the most pleasant experiences in which we have engaged during our high school days. lt was then that we all got decked out in our frilly formals and brand new suits with our best guy or gal at our side and prepared for a never-to- be-forgotten evening. Soon the end of school will be here, September will roll around again, and we'll be walking our last milestone in dear old F. ll. S. May the coming year be as pleas- ant a one as this has been. The first few days were almost exclusively for conditioning. Blocking and tackling were stressed and by the end of the first week all players were a little bruised and in some cases had lost alittle weight. The Red Devil season opened with a victory over the Sperry Tigers. Those who played in the game showed that the boys were in good shape, but the lack of experience was also evident in many positions. The second game was at Shidler and the game was on even terms throughout, ending in a 6-6 tie. liven at this time the Red Devils had not reached a peak of execution on offense and defense. Leaving the Shidler game with a tie was a little disappointing and the boys worked very hard for their third game with the Tonkawa Buc- caneers. This team fell to the Devils by a score of 20-6. Next in line was the game with Newkirk, a team being considered as a state contender and one of the strongest on the schedule. The boys did a good job when they defeated the Tigers by a score of 19-6. The boys next journeyed to Collinsville for an inter-conference game with the Tulsa 7 team. The Devils emerged from this game victorious, thc score being 27-0. FRANK WARNER ' Ifnd JIM Tl'RNI5l'l.l. Dewey came next and Fairfax was defeated Sl-0, this game being the heartbreak for it put the Devils out of the running for the IBB crown. The llominy Bucks fell to the Red Devils by a score of 26-19, and the season was ended by a loss to Cleveland 20-6. At the end of the season, Don Smith, Wallace Alexander, and Dan Fubank were selected by the district coaches to he on the All-District Team. Dan Fubank, a player of whom we're all very proud, was chosen Line-man of the District , and to the coveted position of a member of the All-State Football Team. Looking back over the season, we can find many things that might have been a little more pleasant, but the enjoyment far outweighed the difficulties. The last touchdown of the evening came in the closing seconds when Perry Hudson reversed an end run and, behind good blocking, ran S5 yards for the score. A different lineup went against Shidler for the second game and came home with a 42-7 victory. The smaller members of the team played the whole game. The lmps were without the services of Don Kothe when they journeyed to Pawnee to play the Bears a second game.
