THE PAST, THE PRESENT, AND THE FUTURE OF FAIRFAX HIGH SCHOOL In the three story red brick building at the top of the hill in our town there are two green doors through which many genera- tions of people have walked. The small ones had trouble opening these doors their first year, but their last they go through them as though they weren't there. Many cnanges have occurred in the past 35 years. In 1927 the first classes were held in the main building. In 1940 anew agriculture building was finished, and in 1952 a home economics building was added to the agriculture department. In 1957 a new elementary building and a new gymnasium were finished. That year our boys basketball team christened the new gym with a 28 wins and a 1 loss record. In the future there are plans for a new music department to be constructed south of the present stage at the end of the new gymnasium. Now in 1962 we have a very modern school. We the Senior Class of 1963 are proud that we have been a part of Fairfax High School. 'S-.--4'

741: fulkloq Our fine little fellow, the bulldog, graces our book and as we look at him through- out the pages, we are reminded of all the wonderful times we have had at Fairfax High School this year. But let's look just at our bulldog. Of course, we recognize him as our mascot. Idoubt if we could have an athletic contest of any sort without realizing this. We bulldogs should stop a minute and think, just why we are bulldogs, and for what do we stand? It is true we are bulldogs because this is a part of our school heri- tageg indeed, we are lucky to be given such a grand name. It is a fittingname only if we live up to it. The bulldog is courageous, going forth fearlessly to do what is right. He is loyal and obedient to his master and family. He is loving and shows friendliness to all he en- counters. He is unselfish, faithful, and trustworthy, having the intelligence and stamina to complete a task. We would do well to take our bulldog characteristics with us after graduation and practice them in our every day living, no matter how big are our goals and dreams. We too must be courageous and fight for what we think is right. We will never stand idly by and watch our freedoms taken from us because of our lack of courage or cowardice. We shall truly find happiness only when we are dedicated, loyal and obedient to God. Our way will be loving and friendly, casting no man aside. We will be unselfish, trustworthy, forgiving, and faithfulto all our acquaintances and in all of our dealings. Yes, we have a lot to live up to with a name like bulldogs. But then, we have a lot for which to live. Our goals now may be, or seem to be, as far away as the stars. But shoot high, so long as we never forget to pray to God for guidance and be humble enough to ask forgiveness for if He is with us I know our actions will show all the Bulldog traits. 7 ff rg N 'J l . f--5' 5' f I u K , if Z-' X Sponsored b FIRST NATIONAL BANK, PI'arkio, Missouri
