The Owl 'l'he Uwl is a weekly three'c0lumn publication issued in connection with the Fairfax Forum. 'l'he purpose of the high school division of the Forum, organized in September, 1918, by Duane VVl1itford, is to serve the people of Fairfax by equipping writers, editors, and publishers. The life of the student body is revealed to the patrons of the school by this publication. Miss Corse has served as critic for the paper and with her able assistance the paper has steadily improved. A general does not win a battle thru his own endeavorg com- inendation is due his faithful aids. In this way Vlesley Mellonald can not sustain the successful publication which he has built up without assistance. 'Phe assistants are A. E. Wliitcw, senior report- er, Albe Wvatkins, junior reporter, Faye Bogard, sophomore re- porter and lieatrice Neal, freshman 1'eporter. The editor-in-eliief, VVesley McDonald, was chosen from the school at large. Newspaper wo1'k is not new to Pat as he has seen service as reporter on the Forum. He will be lost through gradua- tio11 alld his lo.ss will be keenly felt as he has artistic and literary ability of unusual merit. A. lil. Wliite, the senior reporter, rarely finds time to do any reporting although she is a news hound with exceptionally large ears. A. E. leaves her pencil and paper at home and reports in person. A. E. is tl1e official school stenographer and can .sure play hot dog on a typewriter. Albe keeps tl1e juniors in the spot light in every issue. He is very dependable and can be counted on to do his bit. Faye keeps us informed on tl1e Mound City News, the latest picture shows and the Charlestonian dance hall dates. Bee is a very busy person, with a good ear for news and tl1e ability to organize. The class reporters are chosen by tl1e classes thelnselves, the purpose being to give every student in our school equal represen- tation. Each Friday there is a scramble for the Owl as the hap- penings of tl1e week just passed is published by a group of efficient news hounds. , ,. il ll
