VIRGINIA HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE 1948-49 Publications Contest YEARBOOK DIVISION GROUP I FARE FAC SAMPLER Fairfax High School Fairfax, Virginia LAYOUT: A well-designed book, some pages a little crowded in Organization Section. Division pages especially good. Senior Section best all round section in the book. Some irregular mountinp among lower classes. Good title page, however, Fairfax, Va. should have been included as copy. Nice printed end sheets. CONTENT: Good editorial work with proper identification of photos. Well selected neat cover. Good printing throughout. Advertising Section well arranged with snapshots at different intervals. Cover well selected, binding good. COMMENTS: Overall this is an excellent book. The cost of production is somewhat above schools of this classification. i%in criticism the crowded condition on some of the organization pages. This could have been relieved by cropping the photos a bit more and closing up the type matter on some pages. Accomplishments To the time of publication, we haven’t had any accidents. No student was hurt or injured. We have a total of fourteen busses for Fairfax High School students, all of which are protected as much as possible, by thirty-one able bus patrols. We have acted as traffic directors for football games, X-ray survey, con¬ certs, and night baseball. We have served as helpers during the fuel shortage. Safety lectures were given to all students, plus special speakers on safety from Washington, D. C. We have proved that teen-agers are safety minded and will follow words of caution better than their elders. We have had a clean record for five years.
