amp L er Strikingly similar were the first principles taught by pre- cept and example in the lives of two famous citizens of Fairfax County, immortal in the minds of men, George Washington and George Mason. Students today face critical years and responsibilities greater than those faced by any generation since the struggle for independnce. Thus has our course been set in the shadow of the same tradition in which that of our county has sailed with assurance and a firmness of faith. Mount Vernon Home of George Washington Behind every institution is the lengthening shadow of tradition. This year, 1942, stretches the shadow of traditions of Fairfax High School across the short span of seven years — the traditions of Fairfax County across two hundred years.
