SENIOR CLASS HISTORY 1968-69 Cornelia Lea pledged a brownie and resigned swearing “it’s true blonds have more fun.” Ginny came into the piano room and left through the piano room. Liz came in like Pebbles and left us all with her contagious laughter. Helen arrived distributing bug juice and left collecting Cape May sea shells. “Actually” Neall came in in love with Larry and left idolizing Jerry Lewis. Aonnya D. came in having James in her heart and left with a heart of Clay. Cathy came in dancing to “Sunny” and left dancing to the Wedding March. Bonita came in bright and left Chipper. Lydia came in a “greenie” and left a Hunter. 1969-70 Bess came in wearing a smile and left wearing a pre-engagement ring. Claud came in a Bronxville Banana and left a Winchester apple. Crane came an Arab, became a Virginian, and left learning to be a Yankee. Sarah F. came in quiet and left yelling “get quiet!” Bunnie came in a Haire and left a Playboy Bunnie. Anne came in a student and left a janitor mopping up. Frances came in with three Mikes and left with one John. Marsha came in from the North and left Bobing for the Florida beaches. Porter arrived in walking shoes and hose and left wearing all them hippy clothes. Spiers came in playing Golf and left leaving Winnie-the-Pooh in yesterday’s dreams. Martha Lee came in an explorer and left discovering America with Christopher. Libbo came in loving a horse and left loving a gardener. Cindy came in as that “cute girl from Greensboro” and left our own Southern Belle. 1970-71 Cheatah came in with the Freshmen, lived with the Sophomores, and departs with the Seniors. Cassandra came in fickle and left deciding whether she was flipped over Wilson or just Deedling around. Sarah H. came with a northern accent and left preaching Latin dialect. Linda came in undecided and left majoring in postal service. Amy Wood came in sweet and shy and left Most Outgoing. Julie came in naive and left experienced. “Romeo” came in quiet and refined and left yelling intense lyrics of love to Fishbait outside her window. Sue came from Massachusetts, stayed in Virginia a while, and headed back to Massachusetts. Toni came in reserved and left preaching Revolution. Anna came in liking Steve and left loving him. DS SUSAN ROMERO Wittiest SARAH FARR S U P E R IL A ale I V EL S Most Likely to Succeed Aitey, CINDY WHITCOMB LEA BOWMAN Most Athletic Class Cutie 54 AMY PHILLIPS Most Outgoing CLAUDIA BROWNLEY Friendliest BETsy NEALL Most Versatile 55 ANNA WOODSIDE Best-Dressed SENIOR CLASS PROPHECY After ten years, the Senior Class of ’72 gathers once more in the halls of Fairfax which is now a commune run by Porter. Standing near her are just a few of her friends . . . Tom, Dick, and Harry. Look out! Spiers is also living in the commune, running the office and the intercom. She is still shouting for revolution and dancing in the halls and trying to sell whatever she can to everybody who comes through the door. Toni, also living in the commune, has a new store called “Toni’s Chunky Organic Foods.” She hasn’t cut her hair in ten years and everyone is getting tangled up in her mass of curls. She just laughs; she always knew that she could get them some way! Various people start arriving and old friends gather ’round to tell tales of their past ten years. Good ol’ Crane comes in talking and leaves talking! She has a steady job as a teacher of English in Saudi Arabia so she can talk all day. On the side she has an exclusive boutique, filled to the brim with long dresses. She is dressed in one of her latest and informs us that she has three or four more in the car. Dear Crane and all her long dresses! Here comes Cassie and she is mad; she’s still whistling through her teeth. She is now the first female bouncer in Culpeper’s one and only night club, “The Pepper-Upper.” By the way, she is angry because someone gave her a speeding ticket. Bunnie and Bonita are still the best of friends. Bunnie has converted to a polygamous society so she can have more than one husband; there are three with her now. She never could make up her mind! Bonita strolls in with a tall fellow... who could he be? She tells us that she lives in Silver Springs, Florida, where she is an underwater mermaid. Hang in there, Bonita! Hasselback and Helen arrive together and bear good tidings of their past ten years. Hassel has her very own lake in her back yard and is also a city manager in control of the waterworks. She can do all the splashing and throwing she wants to now. Helen has been abroad carrying her portfolio and was discovered in Paris. She is now a leading artist in Europe as well as the U.S. We always knew she could do it! Watch out! Too late, Helen; Hassel has already drenched you with water . . . she’s still at it. Here comes Ginny Brown! She has really made it big. She is a member of the Mormon Taber- nacle Choir and plays the piano for the New York Philharmonic Symphony. Peter and Paul dropped Mary for Ginny, so now it’s Peter, Paul, and Ginny. Susan Romero has also had it good. She has a prosperous water-bed business going with the help of an older man. And look at her figure— Raquel Welch made over. That’s the way, Romero. Neall and Rayfield are still rooming together in a New York apartment. Neall has made her career as lead singer and dancer of the ‘“‘Who’s Neall’s Next” combo. Rayfield is a famous New York mathematician and a part-time model for Sachs. Flip out! Julie Piper is wearing a medal giving her the title of “Miss Innocence of the Year.” She made it through nursing school and is now a registered nurse working on the U.S.S. Hope. She is going to find herself a man! Claudia, after traveling throughout her childhood and teen years, tells us that she has finally settled down in North Carolina, editing a local magazine, and dating five different guys. She just can’t make up her mind. Cindy is following Claud in her “Whitcomb Globe Trotters” uni- form. She is president of her town’s President’s Physical Fitness Program. Lydia is still in riding pants and boots! She is the leading instructor at a school of riding in Venice, having Hunter as her grooming girl. Now we come to all the little married couples. First, there’s Marty in her new $3,000 mink coat with her millionaire husband following along. The two lovebirds have just come back from their eleventh cruise. Kathy Rushing, now married, is tiptoeing around carrying a cook book in one hand and with the other weighted down with diamond rings. Libbo comes in with “that same one” and their seven children, all boys. She hopes to have four more boys to complete the football squad. Frances has gained the nickname “Nightingale” from her performance in a New Orleans opera. Her 56 husband must be good to her for she has gained weight and is now a proud 95 pounds! Anna arrives, happily married and beaming with pride over their three little ones—hamsters, of course. She in- forms us that she has had a different wardrobe every year since she models for Seventeen now. Amy bops in and smiles with glee over finding her long-lost lover. She has been married several years and all of her lovely children are wearing braces. Regardless of this, Amy’s pearly whites gleam above her children’s shining silvers. Lisa’s hair has finally grown out and is a beautiful copper brown. Good ol’ Marsha isn’t married yet but she’s still on the move and still dying her hair blond. How can a girl keep up a prosperous art studio and worry about a husband at the same time? Maybe some day you'll settle down, Marsh. Liz comes rolling in telling everyone that she teaches P. O. D. at Orange High School and is finally married. Right on, Liz! Sarah Farr, once president of our class, is now president of a buzzing New York interior decorating company. She surely did know how to decorate things. Remember Junior Dance and Ring Figure? Linda Lunt strides in telling us about her new diet plan. It’s only the hundredth diet she’s been on. Also she has a maid to do her cleaning since she was never very organized. Here comes Bess who is now a professional traveling bridge player. Of course, she plays “Fairfax bridge.” How else could she win? Little Lea is a cute little Playboy Chickie! She has come in costume and all, with a few little additions here and there. Lea also tells us that she has her very own sunlamp room at the club, to be used during her leisure time. Last, but not least, Sue and Sarah “Spacey” Hand stroll in. Terpos is an editor of a Greek newspaper. Aristotle Onassis built a nice little beach for her to lifeguard on .. . she really loves it! Sarah Hand proudly announces that she has her Master’s in Latin and is a well-known Latin scholar. She’s still a little bit “spacey” though! To everyone’s surprise and delight, in walked Mrs. Alexander. She now has forty grandchildren and sixty-five great-grandchildren. Wow! Now that everyone is here we will gather around in a circle and reminisce about the old days at Fairfax. Mrs. J. M. ALEXANDER Our Sponsor The Senior Class wishes to express appreciation to Mrs. Alexander for her guidance and assistance, as well as her efforts to try to keep us studying. As we leave Fairfax, let us have one last look at it. The time-worn steps, the empty hallways, the language lab, a well-smoothed auditorium seat-—but this is not Fairfax. Fairfax is its people, whether screaming, crying, or laughing. Displaying spirit in a pep rally, molding pride within a person, or smiling at a stranger—this is Fairfax. It is countless be- liefs and ideals, but all are one, molded by a growing pride and spirit. We as students are the power behind Fairfax and the loyalty binding it together. For the seniors, Fairfax is over, a bright memory in the minds and hearts of many. For years Fairfax has been a way of life providing friendship, loves, disappointments, and creating within’us a light into the future. Only a few years ago we came to seek and question. Now we -must begin to use the background Fairfax has given us. A new phase of our lives has begun. Graduation is only the beginning. 119 Eaeeationaiieemtieaineniedieteateetemhe tee ie al 99 derella “Cin 120 The horses are loose! . . . Just call me bashful, timid, shy . . . Please don’t take it...
