1. Homecoming royalty. Shelly Vansickle and Kent Kilgus, were featured at the football game’s half time. 2. In the poster contest sponsored by the cheerlead ers, the Sophomores took first. 3. After a year’s absence, the football team again appeared in the annual Homecoming parade. 4. Panthers, as portrayed by the cheerleadrs, cringe at the Tartars threats. 5. Last year’s queen, Connie Ward, crowned Shelly and Kent at coronation. 6. The Jr. High took second place in the float competition with their candygram. 7. Seniors float took first place in the best example of “Victory Is Sweet.” 8. The band had a busy Homecoming week end with the Homecoming parade, the game half time, and the U. of I. competition. 9. Kent Kilgus showed his surprise as he was announced as the first Home coming King. 10. School dismissed early Homecoming Friday for an outdoor pep assembly. 11. Tartar, Jim Schahrer, gives Panther, Rod Hodges, a taste of Tartar power.

Star Burst For the first time in school history FCHS had a Homecoming king and court. The change in royalty occurred at a Student Council meeting when a motion to have a Homecoming king was proposed by one of its members. Much discussion was heard with a final vote in favor of the change. One of the problems that had to be overcome was that court members were on the football team. Overall, the change was a success. A crown and sep-ter were purchased by the Council for the king. This will mark the beginning of a new tradition at FCHS. 8

The Homecoming theme, “Victory Is Sweet” was almost a reality for the Tartar team. The Tartars had a six point lead over the LeRoy Panthers going into the locker room at half time. Things seemed to continue well until the third quarter when the Panthers scored a touchdown and the extra point. The Tartars were forced to play catch up football. Hopes brightened as a fourth-down pass sailed from quarterback. Chuck Ward, with only four seconds left on the clock. The crowd went wild as Mike Kokotek caught the pass but he fell one yard short as the-final buzzer sounded. Sweet p Almost 10
