Lawrence It's all in ihe hands” The cheerleaders played a very important part in generating school spirit during the sports season at FCHS. Although their schedule was already crowded with football and basketball games and pep assemblies. the girls added their cheers to those of the wrestling meet fans and began overall spirit campaigns for all sports, including girls'. During the year, the girls supplemented their spirit drive by regularly decorating the halls with posters and slogans and initiating the Spirit Train during Homecoming week. Tartars Caught in Rain Through pouring rain and crashing thunder, 11 drenched Tartars continued battling the Fisher Bunnies while a few frantic fans hurried to their cars. Cheerleaders, already sopping wet, made the most of a poor situation and laughed. Meanwhile, out on the field, players strained their eyes to cut through the sheets of rain and find the guy across from him. Neither the rain nor the Tartars let up until the game was won. Freezing cold temperatures and a losing battle sent everyone home at the Mahomet-Seymour Homecoming game. The only excitement during the game came on injuries. Four players were put out: one was knocked out, one received a concussion, and another dislocated his knee. The most important game of the whole season was against Octavia. This would have been the turning point in the conference championship if we had only beaten them, but we just couldn’t move the ball. This game was later televised on Channel 3 News. We finished third in the conference. Not bad! D. Roth: Intense listening. Tartar Mascot: M. Fazio It's still anyone's game. 28 Coaches lohnson and Drugan. The fighting Tartars are on the move.

Wanted: More Fans at Freshman Games D. Rabe puis ii up! Someone has to warm the bench. T. El 1 ion goes ape! WANTED - MALE OR FEMALE Must be enthusiastic, faithful in attendance, and willing to cheer loud. No money ne Jed! Apply next year during the basketball season. How many of you went to a Freshman game last year? If you were one of those who answered no,” then our ad's for you! It was terribly disappointing for those seven guys to look up in the stands, hoping to find hundreds, and seeing only their parents sitting next to more parents. It got so they didn't care whether they won or lost. Winning drew no more attention than losing so why make the added effort. One guy said it reminded him of playing ball at Cropsey. The only thing different there was they had cheerleaders! Come, join the Freshman fan-club. FC OPP.
