Text from Pages 1 - 88 of the 1959 volume:

THE CRIER FAIRBURY - CROPSEY HIGH SCHOOL THE FORWARD FAIRBURY, ILLINOIS DEDICATION Often unnoticed and unrecognized, but as much a part of our school as the very walls is Buzz, our custodian, care-taker, and friend. It is quite difficult to be always cheerful in a building full of light-headed, sometimes exasperating teenagers, but Buzz has mastered this feat admirably. He always has a kind word or friendly greeting for every student, and every present student and graduate of our school must be grateful to him for this. Thus, the dedication of this Crier to him is but small payment indeed for everything he has done for us. - 2 - Stanley Barnes, Herbert Lehmann, Eugene Smallwood, Supt. W. H. Bray, Alden Nussbaum, Harold Eliot, Ernest Mies, Pres, Ray Stevens. Leona Goodhart Agnes Rapp W. H. Bray May 27, 1959 It is with pleasure that 1 congratulate you for your achievement—graduation, and it is my sincere desire that you continue your education. In the fall of 1955 you entered high school and at that same time 1 began my tenure in this school. Consequently, we have grown to know each other well, and the void you leave will be difficult to fill. Our American schools provide advantages of education, culture, associations, and entertainment unmatched by any country in the world. In appreciation of these good things, so generously furnished by the taxpayers of our community, it is the student’s first and solemn duty to be a good school citizen at all times. Now it is your first and solemn duty to be a good citizen of your community, county, state, and country. Both Freedom and Good Citizenship are related since both exist because of certain basic rules. Both depend upon the ability of each of us to be a responsible person, to respect the rights of others, and to exercise self-discipline in a manner in which others will approve. Both Freedom and Good Citizenship also depend upon all having equal rights, all displaying self-restraint, good sportsmanship, fair play, high ideals, and correct attitudes. These things we believed were desirable for you to learn. We hope you have learned well. On behalf of the faculty I wish you success in all good things you undertake in your journey through life. Sincerely yoursv } ' e 1 c-'-h 1 £-• 4Lu Hewey E. tweedy, Principal ■ 4 - MARTHA CARTY English Arkansas-B.S. DAVID BROWN Biology, Chemistry Greenville-B.S.
