Their purpose is to work hand-in-hand with the faculty and administration on all student problems. They sponsor most activities in which the entire student body is involved such as an annual magazine drive and the educational assembly programs which the entire student body attends. Girls become eligible for membership on the basis of their participation in intramural activities. Key chains and car plates are items sold to the students which help to mdre them more money. The band, under the direction of Mr. Wagner, has given two splendid con- certs this year plus participating in the Tri-School Music Festival and the music contests. In addition to these activities the band provided a peppy atmosphere for all home athletic contests. Two new bass horns and a new baritone were purchased with the money derived from the concerts. Jeanette Smith represented the band at the All-State Band in Champaign during the Thanksgiving vacation. For the first time, Fairbury was host to their own tournament in which the Tartars walked off with the first place trophy. The Fairbury five was coached by Bob Hainline and Bob Foard coached the Junior Varsity squad. The Tartar basketball squad finished third in the Midstate Conference.
