THEN, ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE SUBJECT GOT ON THE TERRIBLE SHAPE THAT CAMBODIA IS IN. SOMEONE IN THE CLASS MEN¬ TIONED AN ARTICLE THAT WAS MOST IMPORTANT THEY READ IN THE NEWSPAPER. THE SPECIFIC STATEMENT BY THE AUTHOR OF THAT ARTICLE THAT WAS MOST IMPORTANT WAS THAT HE WAS SITTING IN HIS SEGREGATED (ALL WHITE) CHURCH, AND EVERYONE WAS PRAYING FOR A BLACK HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE. HE MEANT YOU. COACH POWELL THEN STATED THAT HE SAW SOME¬ THING THAT TOOK HIM AND EVERYONE ELSE TOTALLY BY SURPRISE. HE SAW BLACKS AND WHITES CRYING ON EACH OTHERS SHOULDERS BECAUSE OF YOUR ACCIDENT. HE SAID FIRST OF ALL, THAT GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS, WHICH I CAN SAY IS A NATURAL FACT. HE IMPLIED THAT A LOT OF PEOPLE CAME TOGETHER AND UNITED AS ONE. BLACKS AND WHITES ALIKE ARE IN UNITY, AND ARE PRAYING FOR YOU. HE SAID THAT GOD HAS HIS WAY OF BRINGING PEOPLE TOGETHER. YOU MAY ASK THE QUESTION, WHY DID HE HAVE TO USE YOU LIKE THIS? A LOT OF TIMES, TROY PEOPLE DO NOT UNDERSTAND THE WORKS OF GOD. BECAUSE I DO NOT SOMETIMES. BUT I KNOW THAT GOD IS MERCIFUL. HE IS THE BEST FRIEND YOU CAN HAVE. TROY, YOU MIGHT NOT SEE IT LIKE THIS, BUT MAYBE YOUR ACCIDENT HAS KEPT YOU FROM A FATE FAR WORSE THAN PARALY¬ SIS. EVERYONE KNOWS THAT YOU HAVE BEEN BOLD ENOUGH TO LOOK DEATH STRAIGHT IN THE FACE, AND WON A FIGHT BEYOND A CALL OF DUTY. YOUR INNER, AND EMOTIONAL STRENGTH HAS MADE EVERYONE ELSE STRONG.
