Students work together. Civics, a required course at Fair Park, provides for a study of national, state and local government. Current events are a part of the study of these classes. Students are encouraged to read newspapers and keep up with civic affairs. Seniors are required to take American History. It is a survey of our nation’s history beginning with a review of Old World events and the American colonization. The study includes the social, economic, and political conditions of the United States throughout its history. The basic principies involved in man's attempt to make a creative living is the study of economics. Emphasis is placed on the American economy so that the student may understand the business system of the United States. World geography provides students with training in the techniques of thinking geographically about world problems. Reading maps, interpreting charts, graphs and tables, and understanding illustrations dealing with geographic principles are the basic things learned in this course. 23
