FAIR PARK WINS uBest SHREVEPCDRT AD Award The students of Fair Park High School have been presented the fourth annual award by the Shreveport Advertising Club as Shreveport's Best Ad of l952. This phrase is to be interpreted as the institution or individual which publicizes the city during a twelve-month period. The determining factors in the selection of Fair Park for the 1952 award were the winning of the State AA football championship by the school squad and the outstanding sportsmanship displayed by the players, students, and fans, Graydon Smart, representative of the Award Com- mittee, explained during the presentation. In presenting the award, Mayor Clyde Fant said, I whole- heartedly concur with the decision of the committee in the Four selection of Fair Park for the award. He pointed out that football and sportsmanship had not been the only factors in the selection but other activities which promoted the name of Shreveport throughout the south as Well. Mr. E. L. Alberson, principal, in accepting the award and expressing appreciation for the school, said, To me, this award has a deeper meaning than merely Winning the championship. ln these days juveniles are criticized so much for their actions, it seems good to learn that a group of young boys and girls, for the girls figure in the selection, toofshould be selected as the best ad for the city in 1952. I hope that we will remain humble and continue in the future as we have in the past, to do our very best.

THEME The rainbow has been used to open and close the 1953 Sequoyah in the effort to reflect the colorful opportunities offered during the days spent at Fair Park. The divisions of the book carry over the prismatic colors found in the rainbow, blue for retrospect, purple for principles of democracy, red for recognition of ability in leadership, gold for physical achieve- ment, and green for growth of personality. Like these vibrant colors are the experi- ences the students accept as an everyday occurrence as they live together Within the school. During the rustle of graduation activities there comes a time when the senior must stop to think seriously about his future. What does it hold, college, business school, work or marriage? To help the undecided senior a series of aptitude tests are given to certify in what field he excells. These are given by the State with the cooperation of the school. First the tests, then a private consultation, help many an uncertain student determine what he wants to do after graduation from high school. Six
