lune luly Au ust For some students May does not spell the last day ot school. These are the students diligent enough to attend school twelve weeks during the surn- mer. Even though they are going to school, the hot, lazy summer mornings stimulate beautiful day dreams. Oh, to be fishing on a day like this, with the sun shining brightly on the water. Or perhaps skimming along lightly on roller skates. Or even preparing for next winter's hunting trip, remembering what a success the last one was. Then Mrs. Lottie Mae Ross with her record book pushes aside all thoughts of sports. Did she record last year's credits? Better check to make sure. Startled into reality the student awakes, possibly in Mr. E. H. Herron's algebra class or Mr. Roy Wilson's history or economics class. Experiencing their classes are two opportunities that are not available during the winter semes- ter. lt takes strength of character to attend summer school when everyone else is on vacation. Ten

The first week of September, with a chill in the air and the glorious colors of the trees over head, finds friends and neighbors gathered on the front steps in anticipation of the new program schedule with favorite teachers. School is never the same as it is the first day. Greeting old friends, making new ones, claiming lockers, and going to class forms a busy day. Members of three classes, seniors, juniors and sophomores, assume an air of self confidence. The fresh- men stand about in shy groups, amazed at the activity around them. Scarcely has a routine been established in classrooms when election for cheerleaders and class officers rapidly follow one another. Twelve A
