CLASS HISTORY On September I, 1949, the doors of old F.G. H.S. swung open to fifty-eight verdant freshmen who were clamoring to begin their high school education with Mr. Garrison and Mrs. Verna Fowler to lead us. The name freshmen suited us because we were fresh men in high school--completely unaware of and unconcemed about the four years ahead. Somewhat perplexed by the long assign- mentsofalgebra, English, and civics, we wondered if the other three years to come would ever end, however with the aid of our teachers the rough places were soon smooth ed over. The State Fair Trip fumished deviation from our course of studies and sent us back refreshed for more. One year later, a group of silly sophomores answered to roll call in Mr. Cox's homeroom. As many of the names were called, there was no answeg the number of our class went down. Although we were giddy and undetermined we could look down and see others where we had been and rea- lized we had made progress. From this year we can recall many pleasant memories such as ourChirst- mas party, our hayride, and also taking Mr. Frog apart. Before we realized it we were in Junior-hood. We became merchants with wares of hose, sand- wiches, and magazines trying to eam money for the most important event of the year--The Junior- Senior Banquet. The theme Academy Award Night was successfully carried out with assistance of our leader, Mrs. Clarence Fowler. We became proud owners of our class rings. Another great event was the Junior Play, Broken Dishes. Now we are seniors looking back over four years which seem much too short. We are searching for the good we have accomplished and realize it could have been more. With the assistance and leadership of Mrs. Ivey we are striving toward our trip to Washington and graduation. Although we we are somewhat hand ica pped and inconvienced by the building proiect, we hope to succeed. Historian: Lillie Smith C
