P. O. Box 318 Thomasville, N. C. December 12, 1962 Dear Rita, I was listening to Leora Lomax on her weekly program Around and About Hollywood, when I heard that you were to get the leading role in “Annie Get Your Man ’ Congratulations! Knowing how busy you will be for the next few months I thought I would write you a few lines and let you know some of the news from home. Chester has been appointed as a state senator to Washington. His secretary is none other than Pauline Floyd. Remell and Hilda have succeded in sticking together, and are now nursing at the Duke Hos- pital in Durham. In their last letter they informed me that Madeline Freedle had joined the hospital as head dietitian. Jo Ann Money didn’t go to college after all; instead she became Mrs. Dale Kennedy, and also a mother of two lovely children. Just last week Childers and Childers Concrete Company was given a contract to repave all the city sidewalks in Thomasville. Roy is a famous North Carolina lawyer and Bobby is publisher of the New York Daily News. Top reporter on his staff is Hubert Hill. Nancy Jo is teaching school at F. G. H. She telephoned me the other day and told me that she had in her class a little girl by the name of Luther. She found out it was the daughter of Sarah and Harold who have been married ever since high school days. Joyce has been married for quite some time, also. She and her husband, Clyde, are living near the Great Lakes, where he is in command of a huge fleet of Navy Ships. Peggy Money and Louise Little have a wonderful beauty parlor which is called ‘'Be Beauti- ful”. Last week when I went to get my hair fixed, who should I meet but Mrs. Paul Mayhew (the former Sara Morris). She told me that she and Paul are very happy running a small country store. Pete Burr is a pilot for the Pan American Air Lines. I am sure that he makes a grand pilot because he was always able to keep a good clear mind, no matter what! Minnie Henson is a hostess on his plane. Jo Ann Pierce, the famous singer, is touring the country with Kenneth Workman’s Television Troup. George Kearns is also with them. I always knew that George was real funny but I must say that I never pictured him as the great comedian he is today. I simply must see them when they are in Greensboro. Ployle opened a night club in Miami, and he offered Gilliam Anderson a chance to be the star entertainer, but he could not accept it for he already had an engagement with the Metropolitan Opera. Do you remember how well Dan always liked to go to the movies? Well, I guess he’s happy at last—he now owns a chain of movie theaters and can go as often as he pleases. I’ll never forget how Betty Turner was always drawing at school; well she kept it up and now is doing art work for 20th Century Fox! Lucky girl! Nellie Jo has been traveling all over the world for the past few years but is expected to re- turn home some time in the near future and write all her experiences into a book. I haven’t too much to say about myself but I am living a very happy life by being a simple little housewife. Best of luck to vou with your new picture. Love, Connie
