For one brief moment of ecstasy we would grasp and hold firmly the hands of time and relive our past happy moments. Eight-thirty on the morning of September 1, 1949, a large group of Freshmen were found in the classrooms, roaming the halls, on the campus, at the store, and in every nook and corner available. We were typical Freshmen—rowdy, boisterous, and full of fun and frolic. After the round-up, however, we learned that Mrs. J. F. Moore was to guide our faultering steps. Our Freshman year was indeed one of hard work, with a good supply of fun mixed in. When our Sophomore year rolled around, we were well on our way to prove that we could be very studious in spite of our love for fun. It was Mr. Cox who kept us walking the chalk line during those nine months. Before we realized it, we had received a higher rating, that of Juniors, under Mrs. Clarence Fowler’s supervision. Our Junior play “Brides To Burn’’ was pre- sented and soon afterwards we plunged into the planning of our year’s biggest event—the Junior-Senior Banquet. This was definitely one of the high lights of our High School career. During our Junior year we had a very heavy schedule but there still remained that vim and vigor of our Freshman year and we accomp- lished that which we set out to do. September 4, 1951, that large group of Freshmen had decreased and the pres- ent Senior Class of thirty “dignified students’’ reported promptly to class. Though the end was drawing near, we once again launched, with Mrs. Ivey as our sponsor, another successful and enjoyable year. We may not always remember all that has happened in the past four years, but memories of classes, parties, plays, studies, acquaintances, ball games, and considerate advisors will linger in our minds for many, many years to come. O. Box 318 Thomasville, N. C. December 12, 1962 Dear Rita, I was listening to Leora Lomax on her weekly program Around and About Hollywood, when I heard that you were to get the leading role in “Annie Get Your Man ’ Congratulations! Knowing how busy you will be for the next few months I thought I would write you a few lines and let you know some of the news from home. Chester has been appointed as a state senator to Washington. His secretary is none other than Pauline Floyd. Remell and Hilda have succeded in sticking together, and are now nursing at the Duke Hos- pital in Durham. In their last letter they informed me that Madeline Freedle had joined the hospital as head dietitian. Jo Ann Money didn’t go to college after all; instead she became Mrs. Dale Kennedy, and also a mother of two lovely children. Just last week Childers and Childers Concrete Company was given a contract to repave all the city sidewalks in Thomasville. Roy is a famous North Carolina lawyer and Bobby is publisher of the New York Daily News. Top reporter on his staff is Hubert Hill. Nancy Jo is teaching school at F. G. H. She telephoned me the other day and told me that she had in her class a little girl by the name of Luther. She found out it was the daughter of Sarah and Harold who have been married ever since high school days. Joyce has been married for quite some time, also. She and her husband, Clyde, are living near the Great Lakes, where he is in command of a huge fleet of Navy Ships. Peggy Money and Louise Little have a wonderful beauty parlor which is called ‘'Be Beauti- ful”. Last week when I went to get my hair fixed, who should I meet but Mrs. Paul Mayhew (the former Sara Morris). She told me that she and Paul are very happy running a small country store. Pete Burr is a pilot for the Pan American Air Lines. I am sure that he makes a grand pilot because he was always able to keep a good clear mind, no matter what! Minnie Henson is a hostess on his plane. Jo Ann Pierce, the famous singer, is touring the country with Kenneth Workman’s Television Troup. George Kearns is also with them. I always knew that George was real funny but I must say that I never pictured him as the great comedian he is today. I simply must see them when they are in Greensboro. Ployle opened a night club in Miami, and he offered Gilliam Anderson a chance to be the star entertainer, but he could not accept it for he already had an engagement with the Metropolitan Opera. Do you remember how well Dan always liked to go to the movies? Well, I guess he’s happy at last—he now owns a chain of movie theaters and can go as often as he pleases. I’ll never forget how Betty Turner was always drawing at school; well she kept it up and now is doing art work for 20th Century Fox! Lucky girl! Nellie Jo has been traveling all over the world for the past few years but is expected to re- turn home some time in the near future and write all her experiences into a book. I haven’t too much to say about myself but I am living a very happy life by being a simple little housewife. Best of luck to vou with your new picture. Love, Connie an THOMASVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA DAVIDSON COUNTY We, the Senior Class, of nineteen hundred and fffty-two realizing that our happy school days are nearing the end do hereby declare this to he our last will and testament. I. TO OUR PRINCIPAL: Mr. Kearns—We leave our deepest appreciation for his untiring efforts in helping us along our rocky road through Fair Grove. II. TO THE FACULTY: Mrs. Ivey—A guarantee of one class per day with no interruptions. Mrs. Fowler—We leave our sincerest thanks for boosting us along when the going got rough. Mr. Cox—We leave our moral support that he may have a winning team, in basketball, baseball, and football. Mrs. Murphy—An extra typing class so she won’t have to teach World History next year. Mr. Garrison—We bequeath our excess knowledge to be passed on to those poor freshmen in algebra class. III. TO THE CLASS OF ’53: Gilliam Anderson wishes to leave his melodious voice to Jack Hensley. Rita Ward wills her ability to be at the wrong place at the wrong time, and say the wrong thing at the wrong time to Jimmy Sechrest. George Kearns wills his ability to get along with teachers to Royce Maxwell. Remell Cranford wishes to leave her long hair to Lorraine Nelson. Nancy Jo Kennedy wishes to leave her love for gossip to Carol Rumple. Roy Bevan leaves his neatness to Clifton, who really doesn’t need it. Hilda Dennis leaves her “gabby” ways to Jo Ann Callieut. Jo Ann Pierce wishes to leave her ability to always come to class late to Martha Hughes. Nellie Jo Eddinger leaves her ability to make A’s to Billy Joe. IV. TO THE SOPHOMORES: We will all our extra strength so that they can continue in F. G. H. S. for the next two vears. V. TO THE FRESHMEN: We leave the fondest hopes that they will have as much fun in high school as we have had. We the class of nineteen hundred and fifty-two hereby publish and declare the aforesaid to be our last will and testament.
