SENIOR DIARY Whew! We’re through! Twelve years of hard work and loads of fun, twelve years of growth and development in the ways of the world that have gone by, never to be re-lived. As we dig up the past, memories force our minds way back to our Freshmen days. To some, this was the beginning of another.year of school, but to forty-four boys and girls who wandered around in the hall looking for Mrs. Grubb’s ninth grade room, it was something confusing and ex- citing. This was our first day of high school and as we recall, we loved it. Later, when we became organized, we elected class officers. They were: President, Seibert Lamb; Vice-President, Jackie Beck; Secretary, Bobbie Everhart; Treasurer, Bobby Gordon. The girl from our class to play basketball was Earline Miller. The boys were Bobby Gordon and Carl Wray. Bobbie Everhart was elected cheerleader. We will never forget the fun we had, but at the end of the year we all looked forward to being Sophomores. Sophomores, we were beginning to realize just what high school would mean to us and finally learning how to face the following years, with Mrs. Grubb again to guide us along. Several of our class had dropped out of school leaving us with thirty-five students. We were represented in many activities. Class officers were: President, Seibert Lamb; Vice-President, Joe Craddock; Secretary, Kelly Burr; Treasurer, Jackie Beck. At the end of the year, we gave a party in Mrs. Grubb’s honor since we would soon be- come Juniors and she would not be our teacher again. Another year went by, we became Juniors and were assigned to the home room of Mrs. Fowler. Our class officers were: President, Seibert Lamb; Vice-President, Kelly Burr; Secretary, Dorothea Scarlette; Treas- urer, Edwin Kennedy. This proved to be a busy year. Marshals were select- ed, class rings ordered, basketball games, a Junior play and the last, but far from least, the Junior-Senior Banquet, held April 9th in the Cavalier Grill in the Reynolds Building in Winston-Salem. The fall of ’48 came like a thunder-bolt and with it the realization of our long cherished dreams. Seniors at last. Twenty-one entered the senior room of Mrs. Ivey. Class officers were: President, Seibert Lamb; Vice-President, Kelly Burr; Secretary, Mollie Overcash; Treasurer, Barbara Harris. These days will linger with us forever. We are the dignified Seniors! Boy, and do we love it! Soon our school days will just be memories, with souvenirs of old F. G. Echos, and our beloved Twigs. We will treasure these and think of them as the best years of our lives. Bobbie Everhart.
