X N QW:-us iff '12 :ff ' CDR ROBERT L. CULLINAN I wish to thank every member of the crew for their contributions in making FAHRlON's final deployment as a United States Warship both successful and memorable. Although not a traditional six-month deployment, Great Lakes Cruise 97 presented many unique challenges which were met head on with the same tenacity the ship has demonstrated throughout her sixteen years of active service to our country. lt has been your positive attitude, team work and high personal standards which made this continuing success possible. Few men get the opportunity to command a Navy warship at sea, but even fewer have the privilege of com- manding a crew which is as professional and dedicated as FAHRION's. When l took command in March l997, l knew l was joining a winning team that had just been selected to receive the Squadron's Battle I continue to be impressed by your commitment, work ethic and can do spirit. l consider myself both fortunate and proud to have had the opportunity to serve with you.

waqfxm. I K 4 ! t Yi I I . .syl .... 3 LCDR RUSSEL LUEHRSEN i lt has been a true pleasure to serve with you, beside you, and for you. The crew of the FAHRION is an out- standing group of professionals. Your enthusiasm and spirit have allowed you to overcome the shortfalls the ship experienced in available training time and manning. You've aggressively pursued all the goals and mis- sions that the command has been tasked and done way beyond what was expected. During the cruise, the pride that you instilled in me, carried over to every job l undertook. Be it an official greeter at a reception, a rushed welcome aboard prior to a day cruise, or standing alone in right field lsoft- balll, l gave my best because l knew it was expected of me as a member of this crew. We completed this cruise with visits to IO US Ports and 6 Canadian ports, transiting over 7200 nautical miles, and showing the ship to 78,76l people. l'm proud of you and your accomplishments and look for- ward to sewing with you in future years. 0 EF
