3 m mm — AHM 11 SS 3akrion(33Q-22) W£3 2-86 Commandina {-Jffi cer Car. Ar. o. Jbiecki COMMANDER ARTHUR E. OSIECKI a na- tive of Salem, Massachusetts, attended the College of the Holy Cross and graduated in 1967. His first assignment after commis- sioning was aboard the USS YORK COUNTY (LST-1175) homeported in Little Creek, Vir- ginia. After his initial sea tour, he completed the Surface Warfare Department Head Course in Newport, Rhode Island which led to his next sea duty as Engineer aboard the USS MO ALE (DD-693). In August 1 973, Commander Osiecki pro- ceeded to the University of Wisconsin where he served as NROTC Instructor for the Engineering and Naval Science cur- riculum. He returned to sea in September 1976 as the Main Propulsion Assistant aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS LEXING- TON (CVT-16) homeported in Pensacola, Florida. He subsequently served on the USS ROBERT A. OWENS (DD-827) as Ex- ecutive Officer. In January 1981 he com- menced his tour as Commanding Officer of USS ESTEEM (MSO-438) homeported in Seattle, Washington. This was fol- lowed by his assignment to the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations in Wash- ington, DC as coordinator for the Navy ' s MCM and MSH shipbuilding programs. Commander Osiecki ' s personal awards include the Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Unit Commendation, the National Defense Medal, an d the Sea Ser- vice Deployment Ribbon. Commander Osiecki is married to the former Madeline L. Lowe of Salem Mas- sachusetts. They have four children: Tho- mas, Daniel, Robert, and Jennifer. Executive icer LIEUTENANT COMMANDER EDWARD G. BAGLEY, III graduated from the United States Naval Academy in June 1972 and joined USS RATH- BURNE (DE-1057) as Auxilia- ries Officer. Subsequent Divi- sion Officer tours included First Lieutenant in USS O ' CAL- LAHAN (DE-1051) and a tour as Navigator and then Combat Information Center Officer in USS TR UXTUN (CGN-35) . After attending the Surface Warfare Officer School Department Head Course in Newport, Rhode Island, Lieutenant Commander Bagley served as Engineer Offi- cer in USS TATTNALL (DDG- 19) and Operations Officer in USS RALEIGH (LPD-1) . In Jan- uary 1983, Lieutenant Com- mander Bagley reported to OPNAVin Washington, D C for a two year tour. Lieutenant Commander Bag- ley ' s awards include several campaign, service, and unit de- corations. Lieutenant Commander Bagley is married to the former Gillian Ruth Cullen of Limerick, Ire- land. They have one daughter, Car a and reside in Atlantic Beach, Florida. cJLcdr O. Cj. ( Saaieu 111 ( ommand Senior L kief QMCS(SW) THOMAS A. ADAMS entered the U.S. Navy in January 1959. Prior to reporting to USS FAHRION, Senior Chief Adam ' s numerous duty stations included USS CLIFTON SPRAGUE (FFG-16); Commander Military Sea Transporta- tion Service Atlantic and Med Office Rotterdam, the Netherlands; Commander Patrol Wings Atlantic Staff; USS DASH (MSO-428); USS HIG- BEE (DD-806) and USS OKLAHOMA CITY (CLG- 5). Senior Chief Adams is a qualified Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. His hobbies include cooking and fishing. Senior Chief Adams is au- thorized to wear the Battle E Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal with silver star, Navy Expedi- tionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal with silver star, Vietnam Service Medal with three stars, Sea Service Ribbon with one star, Expert Shot Pistol Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Senior Chief Adams is married to the former Catharina W. Daniels and is residing in Atlantic Beach, Florida. BMCS(SW) PETE W. HORNE enlisted in the U. S. Navy in August 1961. After recruit training in San Diego, California, Senior Chief Home served aboard USS TRACER (ARG-13), USS VEGA (AF-59), and USS ROBERT A. OWENS (DD-827). Senior Chief Home has also complet- ed tours at Cargo Handling Battalion Two, NAVSTA Subic Bay R. P.; DaNang, Republic of Vietnam; NAVSTA, Newport Rhode Island; NAVSUPPFAC, La Maddellena, Sardinia; NAVCOMMSTA, Ponce, P.R. ; chief of Naval Ed- ucation and Training Headquarters, and NAS Pensacola, Florida. Senior Chief Home is a quali- fied Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist and a qualified Craftmaster. He is authorized to wear the Navy Achievement Medal with one star, Com- bat Action Ribbon, Navy Unit Commendation Medal with one star, Meritorious Unit Commen- dation, Good Conduct with four stars, National Defense Service Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with two stars, and the Sea Service Ribbon. MAN ALL RECOVERY STATIONS $E FAHRION ' s first week in the Persian Gulf was interrupted by the chilling words heloin the water . Through- out FAHRION rushed to their sta- tions. The quick response prevented any personnel injury, all crewmen being picked up within ten minutes. Eventually the helo itself was recov- ered hopefully to fly again. 49 HELC RETURNS ERCM THE DEEP THE PERSIAN GULE The Persian Gulf was to be FAHRION ' s operating area for the next four months. The persian Gulf is one of the busiest bodies of water in the world. In addition, it is the scene of the naval por- tion of the Iran-Iraq conflict. fa .1 HT lm ' .J 52 BAHRAIN while in the Persian Gulf, FAHRION vis- ited the small coun- try of Bahrain for rest and upkeep. While in Bahrain FAHRION ' s crew was able to visit the mar- ket to buy gold or per- fume, sight see, or visit the US Navy ' s Admin Support Unit, where they could have a meal, play pool, go swimming, or play your favorite sport. 53 Mi 54 r I 1 ;?ji j 55 66 STEEL BEACH PICNIC With FAHRION spending- most of her time at sea, opportunities for rec- reation was limited. With brief stops for fuel in the Azores and Bermuda FAHRION ar- rived in Mayport on August 6, 1986. After six months away from home, everyone was looking forward to a re- union with their fami- Mes.
