ELIAS CARRASCO JAMES CRAIG Back Back Lacking something in luck and power, the Wildcat football tea rn won tive games und lost four in thc- 1951 football s e a s on. Nevertheless, the entire squad exhibited traditional Fabens spiritg and in spite of injuries, the weather, and miscellaneous mishaps, they never gave up. Under the coaching of Lester C. Edwards and his assistant, Harry S. Brown, the Wildcats almost copped the district championship t his year, but they didn't quite have what it took in the last minutes of the Sanderson game, a nd consequently, they ended up in third place of dist r ict com- petition. Final conference standings showed Sanderson at the head of the list w ith five wins and no los s e sg Fort Hancock with thr e e wins, one loss, and one tie, Fabens with three wins and two losses, Van Horn with two wins, one lo s s, and one tie, a nd Grand Falls with one win a nd four losses. Clint was at the bottom of the conference ladder with five losses and no wins. At the end of the season, g r a duating seniors Dick Green, joe Rey, Frank Macias, and Billy Fields tur ne d in their uniformsg but even with this great loss in player strength, the Wildcats are expected to make a real come-back next year.
