Perkins, Marcello Maldanado FUTURE FARMERS OF AMERICA-FABENS CHAPTER The Fabens Chapter of the Future Farmers of America organized in the fall of 1929 and elected Clarence Black President. The Chapter affiliated itself with the Fu- ture Farmer organization of Texas and America. The State organization is a complete organization with officers and a State super- visor. Meetings are ,held each year and new officers are elected. At the State meetings certain objectives are set up for the State organization to carry out the coming year. Then each local chapter sets up its objectives and includes their part of the State work that has already been planned. Some of the things that the organization sponsors afre: Father and Son Banquets for each chapter, a State meeting at the Dallas Fair, and a contest among all the boys at A. 85 M. College of Texas in the spring of each year. The contest at A. Kc M. includes the judging of dairy cattle, beef cattle, hogs, sheep, goats, grain and horses. Contests are 'held in farm sfhop work, entomology, cot- ton fclaissing, wool grading, and budding and grafting. These contests are all held in one day at the college. From 1,500 to 2,000 boys enter these contests each year. PAGE SIXTY-EIGHT
