Having lost our guards, forwards and jump center of previous years, we started the season with a rather weak team. The only players having had previous experience were Captain Cleo Nunn, and Cora Beth Bickley. The outstanding characteristic of the team was its splendid sportsmanship which was manifested in every game. Each girl worked earnestly and those receiving letters were: Cleo Nunn, Cora Beth Bickley. Eva Cooke, Alpha Mae Woods, Johnnie Wads- worth, Frances Marchbanks and Bernice Trice. Others who supported the team wereg Rose ltancich, Dorothy Patridge, Florene Menefee, Frances Dockray and Corinne Whitaker. The improvement made during the season was shown in the return games with Ysleta and Clint. The fast floor work of Nunn, the accurate shooting of Lefty Woods, with the alertness and quick passing of the rest of the players called forth the best efforts of the opposing teams. We lost to Ysleta, then to Tornillo and then won from Clint in the first half. After the holidays we won from Ysleta and Tor- nillo and this put us in the race for county championship until one of our players was protested and the games had to be played over. Hubert Nunn started the season at guard, but when one of our players quit school he was shifted to forward where he played the rest of the year. He played in seventeen games, made twenty-four field goals, ten free throws, nine personal fouls and scored fifty-eight points. Carl Lambert played guard and forward. He played in seventeen games, made five field goals, five free throws, thirty-two personal fouls and scoreo fifteen points. VVillie Davis played at guard the whole season. Although he didn't have a chance on the o-ffense, he was a big help on the defense. He played in four- teen games, made one free throw, eleven personal fouls and scored one point. Sam Cresap played forward the whole season. Although he was not very strong on basket throwing, he was a valuable man on the floor. He played in seventeen games, made six field goals, ten free throws, twenty-six personal fouls and scored twenty-one points. Frank Magee was a very valuable man at center because of his ability to throw goals. He played in seventeen games, made sixty-one field goals, six free throws, seven personal fouls and scored one hundred and twenty-eight points. ' - Bob Whitaker played forward while he was going to school. He played in eleven games, made twenty-four field goals, six free throws, fifteen personal fouls and scored fifty-six points. ' 4 Arturo Rodriguez was a good man on the floor and also a good shot. He played in five games, made four field goals, one free throw, five personal fouls and scored nine points.
