' ' UUR CUSTODIAN MR. CHARLES DJUBEK EIGHTEEN SENIDIQ CLASS HIST DY Four years ago a group of shy students entered into their first year of high school. We were those students--ready for the four years of long hard work. As freshman we spent our time becoming accustomed to high school life and making new friends. When we entered our Sophmore year, we became active in school activ- ities. Under the guidance of Miss Urben and Miss Frederick we held our first weiner roast and as a means of raising money for our treasury we held a benefit movie and bond raffle. Then another year passed and we found ourselves jolly juniors and had as our sponsor Miss Tomer. In between our school work, sports activi- ties and club affairs we had a Weiner roast and held our junior Dance with music furnished by johnny Simms. Later on we all developed Swing Fever , the title of our junior Play. Then came the night that set every- body's heart alllfutter---the night of the junior Prom. Music was furnished by lion Glasser and a grand time was had by all. Finally the year that we all leoked forward to, came along. At last we were Senliors. With Mrs. Smith as our sponsor we qiuickly got down to business. We held our annual weiner roast at Celwnial then we sueeessful- ly put over our Senior Play, He Couldn't Marry Five. Under our spon- sorship Hank Karrol and His Radio Ranch came down to entertain the people and our sale of Christmas Cards increased our treasury. When Basketball Season rolled around we took over the sale of hotdogs for the hungry fans. Near the mid lle of the year we got together and started work on the Annual Other business ventures proved fruitfull for our treasury. Finally the great day arrived, the day we all looked forward to and set as our goal when ive entered high sehool four years before. The day of graduaiioii. JUNIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of U, there were 32 eager students about to be freshmen, gathered in room twelve under the leadership of Mliss Tomer, to perform the tasks and duties of the forthcoming years, not knowing what was in store for them. The first event of the year, raising nioney, was a magazine campaign. The hoys defeated the girls, the latter giving a party for the victors. Our second event which aroused great interest in our Sophomore Class was also a magazine campaign, in which the boys again defeated the girls. In the beginning of our Junior year we were again under the leader- ship of Miss Toiner. Our first bi event was electing our officers of the class. President: Earnest Long, Vice Presiflentt Dololes Manovich, Secretarv: Lola Ventura who also has honor of being on the St-udent Council. We are proud to have four of our boys serving on the basketball team. They are Sain Visnic. lohn Wulchin, Ernie long and Nick Chuppe. The junior class girls are also well represented on the basketball team. Thev are Mildred Vlucelich, Antionette Butkovieh, Marianne Rehick, Doleres Mano- vieh, Martha Wraeher and Lola Ventura. At the end of L'.16 we are still continuing to climb the ladder of success. Our goal ---- Seniors. Beeainse of our great profits we were again trusted with the nta'-'azine Campaign this year. ln the line ol' sports livelvn Orlie, Marjorie Lemmon, and .loan Lapee- vic' are on the girls' baskethall team. jim Sleigh, .lames Biscanto and Mike livkovieh are going to town on the hovs' team. with Bill Hantl helping ont on the junior Varsity. Madeline Restauri ancl Evelvn Orlie are two of the eheerleznlers who lead the fans in cheering our teams to vietory. Our Export High Basketball team under the superb guidance of Coach Bruce McHail accomplished an amazing record of 19 wins against 3 losses for the entire basketball campaign. Also, the feat of remaining undefeated while winn- ing I2 games in Sectional play speaks for itself as such a record ing I2 games in Sectional play speaks for itself as such a record was made possible by the splendid spirit and beautiful team work of the squad as a whole. The season was a success from all points of view. Hilty, forward: Pavliak, forward: Wulchin, center: Biesnz, guard: and Visnic, guard: proved to be a fine nucleus around which Coach Mcllail developed a strong winn- ing con'-bination. Their. defense was almost airtight, thev showed fine offensive strength and together with their brilliant floor work produced one of the tlinest records here at Export High. Two boys who were alwavs on hand whenever needed were two first-class,performers Long antd Chuppe who demon- strated that they could fill any position readilv. Biesuz, Hiilty and Pavliak will be lost through graduation, but wtith the re- turn of Wulchin, Yisnic, Long and Chuppe much is expected for the 11946-47 season. To the unsung heroes, the Managers, Skerkoske and Luscri goes much deserved pralise for their fine efficient manner in carrying out their duties the past season. Chuppti The girls' basketball team led a successful season this year, winning nine out of twelve games, Coached by Mrs. Humes, the girls were heavy competition for their opponents. The team was composed of twelve girls making this season one of the most exciting in the past few years. The girls proved their abIlity in the first game w th theAlumni with a score 23-10' Then came the first bit of competition: In the Trafford contest. Calisti scored 24 points, giving the girls much confidence in themselves--They won this game with ascore of 30 22. After winning the two games the girls, quite confident., marched right on losing only three games the entire season. They lost both Bell Twp. games :nd the Saltsburgh game, played away from home. The girls were victorious over the Alumni, Traffrrd, Srltsburgeh, Franklin, Avonmore and Penn Twp. schools. The finst team line-up con isted of thefollowiig: Chuppe, Calist', Vucelich, Karp Butkovich, and llebich. The substitutm: holla Ventura who did afine job off taking over when Calisti was nimble to play, Martha Wratcher, Dolores Trabucco, Marjorie Lemmon, Joan Lapsevic, and Evelyn Orlic all had much experience th's year and are all good prospects for next season. The hiirh scorer of this season was Chuppe who averaged I9 points out of twelve games, Calisti came in second scoring 72 points out of five games and Vucelich chalked up 67 pointxs out of twelve games. We regret that we are losing three outstanding players Chuppe, Karp and Calisti of the class of '46, We are all proud and thank the girls for the srlendid job they dial this year.
