We of the Acta Staff felt that this book should follow the contemporary trend. We felt that a yearbook is a record of what goes on at a certain time, and that this time is today. This book contains pictures that are meant to remind you of today. We have used drawings that depict the period in which we are living. We, of the Staff, hope that this book will always provide you with a record of what happened today, and that you will get enjoyment from its pages to- nior row. Shorty , as he is known to most of us, has worked towards a better campus for many years. He has been a very industrious and efficient worker who has received little recognition for his fine work. Not only has he been a good worker, but he has also proven himself to be a friend and helper to all of the students here at E. U. H. S. In recognition of his fine work we respectfully dedicate this 1954 Acta to Shorty . 10 mmm MRS. Stanford Uni- ser sity Our chief want in life is somebody who shall make us do what we can . Ralph W. Emerson The teacher we like to recall is the one who made us want to do the most homework; we play better tennis with a player who is superior to ourselves and makes us play better; our English im- proves in class when other students show that they can do the assignments and do them as well if not better than us. We do our finest work for a boss, a partner, and a teacher who is exacting--who ex- pects a lot but does not demand it. It is when we are required to stretch our imaginations to the limit that we do our best work, and we are always grate- ful. Seniors, you are leaving high school now. Have you discovered who that some- body is who will make you do what you can? You know, you needn ' t look further than yourself.
