It is composed of all students and faculty members who have paid two dollars to obtain membership cards. These cards entitle the holders to attend all school athletic contests and parties sponsored by the Student Body. All members are given a reduction in the cost of the annual. Membership grants the privilege of voting on all Student Body matters and electing the officers annually. Most business of the Student Body is first referred to the Student Council where it is either recommended to the Student Body or vetoed. Bills for less than ten dollars are paid by the Student Council without being approved by the Student Body. The Student Council is composed of twelve students and a faculty adviser. The Vice-President of the Student Body presides at the meetings. The President of the Student Body is the Vice-President of the Student Council and the Student Body Secretary-Treasurer acts as Secretary of the Student Council. This year, the Student Body sponsored the school play, Our Town, the operetta, The Bells of Capistrano, and several dances. lt also entered a float in the Emperor Grape Festival Parade. The Acta, which summarizes the activities of the school during the year, is published by the Student Body. The Acta Staff is recommended by the faculty and then elected by the Student Body. This Staff is then given complete charge of the annual. Adviser Mr. Law Yell Leader Phyllis Dawson Sergeant-at-Arms Adolph Aguirre President ..,.............. Vice-President... I ere Austin, Bruce Iackson, lack McFadzean WINGS UVER EXETER Wings Over Exeter, dramatizing the life of the young men who attend our aviation schools, was written and directed by Warren G. Wood. The prologue occurs in a doctor's office, where a fledgling is taking a physical examination for his pilot's license. The first scene combines the routine activities of rookies in the barracks at flying school with comedy. On the parade grounds, in scene two, they are taught the fundamentals of drill and impressed with the value of discipline. In scene three the youth- ful mechanics are engaged in the varied activities involved in the repair and maintenance of the airplanes. A Pratt-Whitney Wasp radial engine is being given an overhaul, a propeller is being assembled: wing, control surfaces, and fuselage are undergoing repairs. The play is concluded when the student pilots challenge a neighboring school to a realistic off-stage acrobatics contest, compete with sound effects, and the test pilot power- dives an experimental plane which is climaxed by a parachute jump. ----M Sept. lU First day oi school.
