Second quarter, the seventh period Touch Football class lead by Mary Seiders. joins Mrs. Yoder in an energetic race across the athletic field. The health and well being of the student body concerned all. but special attention was devoted to it by several staff members in related fields. The juniors received physical and hearing tests, while all students received vision tests. Nurse Nancy Francis was joined by Dr. Kent Weaver in running physical examinations for each sport. Mrs. Francis also measured each senior for his graduating cap and gown between emergency situations. The physical education mimi-courses continued, with the addition of Fitness for Life, Tumbling, and Weight Training. Mrs. Teresa Fry rejoined the department two days a week for adaptive physical education. Sports Day and the choreography display were only part of one of the most innovative programs in the state. Required health classes, many taught in the new science wing, included the memorable childbirth film. Mandatory classroom driver education instruction stressed knowledge, safety, common sense, and basic skills. Over 170 students received behind-the-wheel time to add to their viewing of Signal 30. Continuing her physical activities after class, soph Gloria Garber runs cross country. While members of the pinney team attack her position. FINE ARTS CREATE Ceramic Italian sandwiches are Lori Terefenko's specialty. Believing the study of art is not just for artists, the Fine Arts Department provided experiences for talented and learning students alike. The Social Studies Humanism in Music mini-course as well as the 20 art minicourses filled the interests of many, some of whom applied to the Governor’s School for the Arts. Field trips to the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Winterthur Museum and to perform encouraged students who exhibited at the Annual Art Show in Boscov’s and at such places as the retired teachers' meeting.
